Marvel Rivals Season 3 is bringing big changes to the game’s Team-Up abilities — adding two fresh combos while retiring a pair of fan-favorites.

Team-Up abilities have always been a core feature in Marvel Rivals, encouraging strategic synergy by letting two or more characters combine their powers for unique combat effects. Now, with the arrival of Season 3 on July 11, NetEase has rebalanced these abilities significantly — continuing the trend seen in previous updates.

In fact, according to community reports and developer updates, over 70% of Team-Up abilities have now been altered or reworked since the game’s launch. That’s a sizable jump from the 50% change rate observed in Season 2.5. This time around, players can expect two completely new Team-Up abilities, two removals, and a couple of key reworks involving existing character combos.

New Team-Up Abilities in Season 3

1. Primal Flame

  • Heroes: Phoenix and Wolverine

  • Effect: Phoenix acts as the anchor. When Wolverine uses Feral Leap, the Phoenix Force activates, burning nearby enemies over time. On top of that, Wolverine’s attacks get Lifesteal, adding a strong sustain element to his aggressive style.

2. Ever-Burning Bond

  • Heroes: Human Torch and Spider-Man

  • Effect: Human Torch powers up a gadget for Spidey, letting him shoot flaming webs that deal AoE damage and apply a Burn-Tracer. Spider-Man can then zip to any Burn-Tracer-marked enemy and trigger an explosive burn effect. Interestingly, both Burn-Tracers and his standard Spider-Tracers can be used simultaneously, opening up a lot of room for flashy combos.

Team-Up Abilities Removed in Season 3

1. Storming Ignition

  • Heroes: Human Torch and Storm

  • Effect: This ability let Storm summon an Omega Fire Tornado when Human Torch activated Supernova, and vice versa. It’s now been completely removed from the game.

2. ESU Alumnus

  • Heroes: Spider-Man and Squirrel Girl

  • Effect: Previously, Spidey would hand Squirrel Girl a web bomb that could be slingshotted to explode and ensnare enemies. This combo has also been taken out in the latest patch.

Changed Team-Up Abilities in Season 3

1. Symbiote Shenanigans

  • Heroes: Venom, Jeff the Land Shark, and now Hela

  • Effect: Hela joins this chaotic Team-Up. When triggered, Symbiote Tendrils burst from Hela’s Hel Sphere, linking enemies together and dragging them toward the blast zone while slowing their movement — making this team-up more crowd-control heavy.

2. Stark Protocol

  • Heroes: Iron Man, Ultron, and now Squirrel Girl

  • Effect: Squirrel Girl receives a nano-tech gauntlet from Iron Man, allowing one of her squirrels to pilot the glove and crash into enemies with an explosive impact. Don't worry — the squirrel safely jumps off just before detonation.

Additionally, the Guardian Revival ability has been nerfed, though details on the exact tweaks haven’t been fully disclosed. These adjustments are all part of NetEase’s ongoing efforts to keep gameplay fresh and balanced, especially in the lead-up to Season 3’s competitive updates.

Season 3 officially launches on July 11, and with this many changes, players may want to revisit their go-to combos or experiment with the new ones right away.
