Now we know two major heroes, Phoenix and Blade, are likely heading to Marvel Rivals Season 3 — thanks to a Twitch blog leak tied to the game’s upcoming Summer Drops campaign. While the blog itself doesn’t reveal much beyond swimsuit cosmetics and summer-themed content, dataminers have done the heavy lifting. Early leaks from well-known sources have given us a solid idea of what Phoenix and Blade will bring to the battlefield.

On June 27, 2025, leakers like @RivalsLeaks and @RivalsInfo posted that both characters will feature in Season 3, which is allegedly titled “The Abyss Awakens.” The new season is set to launch on July 11, 2025, with Phoenix expected to arrive at launch and Blade coming later during a mid-season 3.5 update, likely around August 11, 2025.

Phoenix — Cosmic Power in a Support Role?

Jean Grey, aka Phoenix, is one of Marvel’s most powerful mutants and a core member of the original X-Men. Connected to the cosmic Phoenix Force, she’s known for devastating telekinetic and telepathic powers. In Marvel Rivals, she’s expected to fill a Strategist or Support role — much needed in a game currently skewed toward DPS heroes.

Based on her lore and abilities in the comics, Phoenix may include mechanics such as flight, force field generation, molecular manipulation, and powerful crowd-control ultimates.

There’s also potential for team-up synergies with other X-Men characters like Storm, Wolverine, Psylocke, and Magik, especially since team-based interactions are being teased as part of Season 3’s design.

Blade — A Weapon-Switching DPS with Vampire Flair

While Phoenix is all about cosmic energy, Blade brings grit, speed, and adaptability. As per dataminer RivalsInfo, Blade will be a Duelist/DPS hero with a unique hybrid combat style. He reportedly switches between a melee sword and a hunting shotgun, allowing him to dominate in both close and mid-range fights.

Here’s a breakdown of Blade’s leaked kit:

  • Blade Chopper (Primary 1): A melee sword slash with Dracula’s sword.

  • Hunting Gun (Primary 2): Fires an explosive fragmentation round.

  • Ultimate (Q): A charge-forward move that deals heavy sword damage while leaving a trail of slashes.

  • Step and Chop (Shift): Dash with different effects depending on weapon — reduced healing if using a gun, slowed movement if using a sword.

  • Blood Liberation (E): Enters vampiric mode; can’t be healed but regenerates by dealing damage.

  • Damage Block (Right Click): Defensive sword stance that blocks frontal damage.

Blade’s dynamic kit could make him a menace in duels, but his arrival has also sparked discussion in the community. With already 20 DPS heroes compared to just 9 Strategists and 10 Tanks, some players expressed concern that adding more Duelists could worsen team balance in quickplay.

Nevertheless, NetEase hasn’t confirmed the leaks; the combination of datamined information and the official Twitch blog’s timing gives these claims some credibility. As more details emerge, players can expect further clarification — but for now, it's safe to say: Season 3 is about to heat up in more ways than one.
