Marvel Rivals Season 8, titled Sins of Alchemax, officially launches on May 15, 2026, bringing two new heroes, a new map, balance changes, and a wave of fresh content to the game.
NetEase Games has rolled out the full patch notes for the Season 8 update. The update goes live at 9:00 AM UTC, with an expected server downtime of around two hours. Once maintenance wraps up, players across all regions can jump in and start exploring everything the new season has to offer.

Devil Dinosaur Stomps In as the 50th Hero
The headline addition this season is Devil Dinosaur, who joins the roster as the game's 50th hero and takes the Vanguard role. He is a frontline tank built around raw, primal aggression. His kit revolves around biting enemies to apply a bleed effect, grabbing bleeding targets with his jaws, and launching them out of fights entirely. He can also conjure a force field shield to block incoming projectiles and fire laser beams from his mouth for ranged pressure.
His ultimate ability turns up the chaos even further. Devil Dinosaur charges forward with increased movement speed, trampling enemies underfoot with shockwave stomps along the way.
Fred Tatasciore voices the character, reprising the role from the animated series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.
Cyclops Arrives Later in Season 8.5
The second confirmed new hero, Cyclops, will arrive with Season 8.5, which is slated to kick off around June 12. The trailer showed Cyclops unleashing his optic blasts against Alchemax's robotic enforcers, before a dramatic encounter with Moon Girl leads to him losing control and ultimately being captured.
New Team-Up: Primal Punishment
Devil Dinosaur is not rolling in solo. He brings a brand-new team-up ability with The Punisher, called Primal Punishment. When the two are paired together, Devil Dinosaur gains 100 bonus health. Frank Castle, on his end, can actually climb onto Devil Dinosaur's back and ride him into battle. While riding, Punisher is limited to normal attacks and grenades, but he benefits from damage reduction and a portion of all damage he receives gets shared with Devil Dinosaur.
Balance Changes Across the Roster
Season 8 brings a fairly wide-ranging balance patch. Here is a breakdown of who goes up and who comes down:
Heroes receiving buffs:
Emma Frost (longer Telepathic Pulse, faster Mind's Aegis repositioning, higher damage reduction in Diamond Form)
The Thing (base health increased from 700 to 750)
Iron Fist (burst and combo improvements)
Spider-Man (ultimate ability buffed)
Moon Knight (mobility improvements)
Wolverine (healing cooldown reduced)
Star-Lord (ammo adjustments)
Squirrel Girl
Rocket Raccoon (damage, healing, and ultimate improvements)
White Fox (healing rebalanced)
Heroes receiving nerfs:
Deadpool (Ban Hammer ultimate healing reduced from 50 per second to 25 per second; Dual Desert Eagles damage reduced)
Mister Fantastic (less crowd control, adjusted damage and defense tradeoffs)
Invisible Woman (knockback and damage values reduced)
Mantis (damage boost lowered from 12% to 8%, though she now grants allies a flat 100 movement speed)
New Map, Cosmetics, and More
A new Doom Match map, Alchemax Headquarters, arrives on May 28 as part of a mid-season update.
On the cosmetics front, the Season 8 Battle Pass, titled Project: Heroic Age, features 10 new costume sets. Standout skins include Rogue's Starlit Rebel, Jeff the Land Shark's Devil Landshark, and Gambit's Barrier Buster.
New accessories are also being added for Devil Dinosaur, The Thing, Black Widow, Angela, Hela, Namor, and The Punisher.
Launch-day cosmetics include the Devil Dinosaur Chrono-Armor Bundle, Deadpool's Monster King Bundle, and Hulk's Infinity Hulk Bundle.
Twitch Drops include Rogue – Will of Galacta costume, along with related bundle content. Drops Period: May 15, 2026, at 12 AM UTC to June 12, 2026, at 9 AM UTC.
PC Storage Optimization
One of the more practical additions this season is the separation of the high-resolution texture pack into a standalone optional download. As creative director Guangguang explained, "You will save a massive amount of space with practically zero impact on your visual experience." Players running the game at 1080p or 1440p can uninstall the HD pack and free up roughly 35 GB without a noticeable drop in visual quality.
