Marvel fans won’t have to wait much longer to get their hands on Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. The game’s first closed beta is set to run this week from September 5 to September 7, giving players an early taste of the upcoming 4v4 brawler.
Originally announced during June’s PlayStation Showcase, the title is being developed by Arc System Works, the studio best known for fighting game heavyweights like Guilty Gear and Dragon Ball FighterZ.
This time, they’re bringing Marvel heroes and villains into the spotlight, and a few characters have even been given fresh looks to match the game’s unique art style.
The full release is still slated for 2026, but this closed beta is the first real chance to see how the action plays out.
When and How to Join the Beta
The closed beta begins on Friday, September 5, and wraps up on Sunday, September 7.
It’s worth noting that this test is exclusive to PlayStation 5 players. According to the game’s official X page, invitations for those who signed up through the PlayStation Beta Program started rolling out on September 2.
The exact launch hour hasn’t been nailed down yet, but based on the trailer, the beta is expected to go live in the evening of September 5 Pacific Time. For players in other regions, that means the action likely begins on September 6.

What’s Included in the Closed Beta
So, what can you expect once you log in? The beta packs in a decent amount of content for a first run. Six characters will be playable: Captain America, Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, Storm, Doctor Doom, and Star-Lord.
Matches will take place across three New York-themed stages — City Centre, Avengers Museum, and Hell’s Kitchen.
Outside of regular battles, there’s more to explore. A 64-player lobby featuring chibi-style Marvel avatars adds a playful twist, giving players a space to hang out between matches.
There’s also a “Startup Battle” tutorial against CPU opponents to help newcomers pick up the mechanics quickly.
And if you’re more of a spectator, you’ll be able to hop into Spectator Mode to watch other players duke it out online.
