Mouse P.I. for Hire Launch Guide: Date, Times, Price, Platforms, and More

Mouse: P.I. For Hire, the rubberhose-inspired first-person shooter from Fumi Games and PlaySide Studios, is set to release on April 16, 2026.

The game blends fast-paced boomer shooter action with noir detective storytelling, all wrapped in a hand-drawn 1930s black-and-white cartoon aesthetic.

The game puts players in the shoes of Jack Pepper, a war hero turned hardboiled private investigator navigating the seedy underbelly of an anthropomorphic city called Mouseburg. Troy Baker voices the grizzled mouse detective, and the rest of the cast is equally stacked, featuring Florian Clare as Wanda Fuller, Camryn Grimes as Tammy Tumbler, Fred Tatasciore as John Brown, and Frank Todaro as Cornelius Stilton.

The cases Jack takes on range from a Missing Magician to a Shrew Shortage, each tangled up in corruption, murder, and underworld intrigue. Dark themes, but delivered with slapstick cartoon energy.

Gameplay and Features

Mouse: P.I. For Hire is best described as Doom-style boomer shooter gameplay crossed with the rubberhose visual style of Cuphead, all set against a noir detective backdrop.

The campaign spans over 20 levels across 10-plus biomes, with fluid movement mechanics including wall-running, grappling hooks, and double-jumps. Players will also engage in investigative segments, solving puzzles by gathering clues and interacting with characters.

The arsenal includes cartoon guns, melee weapons, gadgets, and power-ups. One of the more entertaining ones is "Spinach," which presumably does exactly what you would expect it to do.

The campaign is estimated to run between 12 and 20 hours, depending on how thoroughly players explore and tackle puzzles.
