The Fortnite community has been buzzing ever since Twitch star Kai Cenat revealed his Icon Series skin on the massive Las Vegas Sphere. While the announcement was a milestone for Cenat, not everyone was thrilled. Some fans argued that creators more closely tied to Fortnite — like IShowSpeed— should have received a skin first.
But in an unexpected twist, Tyler “Ninja” Blevins came to Kai’s defense. Despite past tensions between the two streamers, Ninja brushed off the criticism and explained why Cenat’s addition to Fortnite isn’t the problem some are making it out to be.
During a livestream, Ninja addressed fan concerns directly: “There are creators who have Icon skins and then there’s just Icons. It’s safe to say he’s up there in the streaming scene.” In his view, the Icon Series isn’t just about who plays Fortnite the most, but about cultural impact and influence across the gaming space.
Ninja also pointed out that Epic Games spaces out its cosmetic releases, which leaves room for other streamers to get their turn. He even name-dropped IShowSpeed, saying a skin for him would be “great” but reminding fans that “Epic doesn’t just pump out cosmetics.”
"These things are spaced out, so we can still see a Speed one in the future,” Ninja added.
To further make his point, Ninja highlighted previous crossovers featuring celebrities like Eminem, Billie Eilish, and Harry Kane, none of whom are heavily tied to Fortnite gameplay. For him, Cenat fits right into that category of broader cultural icons who help expand Fortnite’s appeal.
Importantly, Ninja also predicted that Cenat will be spending plenty of time in Fortnite during his upcoming Mafiathon 3, where the streamer is expected to showcase the skin ahead of its official launch.
The Kai Cenat Fortnite collab is scheduled to arrive on September 12, 2025.
