Nintendo Indie World Showcase Recap: Glaciered, Neverway, Herdling, and More Revealed

Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase just wrapped up, delivering a compact but content-packed 15-minute presentation. The stream focused on upcoming indie games for the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, highlighting a variety of genres — from cozy puzzle titles to dark fantasy RPGs and quirky social games.

One of the most prominent reveals was Glaciered, a visually stunning JRPG set 65 million years in the future. Coming this holiday season as a timed console exclusive for Switch 2, the game lets players explore an Earth trapped in eternal ice, playing as a Tuai, an evolved avian species descended from dinosaurs. With real-time underwater combat, melee and ranged attacks, and character progression tied to evolving wings and powers, Glaciered looks poised to be one of the more ambitious indie titles launching this winter.

Another standout announcement was Neverway, a nightmarish life sim meets action RPG, set for a 2026 release on Switch. You play as Fiona, a woman who leaves her mundane life behind to become the immortal herald of a dead deity. The game combines sword-based combat, relationship systems (where you can befriend, romance, or deceive NPCs), and narrative choices. The artistic pedigree is also strong — it’s co-created by the pixel artist behind Celeste, with music from Fez and Hyper Light Drifter composers.

Coming much sooner is Herdling, arriving on August 21, 2025, from the publisher behind Firewatch and the creators of the Far series. This atmospheric adventure revolves around guiding mythical creatures called Calicorns across beautiful biomes while solving environmental puzzles and facing eerie challenges. Pre-orders are now open.

Several games made surprise debuts during the event, including Is This Seat Taken?, a social puzzle game available now. It’s all about matching people’s seating preferences in quirky social situations — think limo rides, banquets, and bus trips — while learning their unique personalities.

On the more chaotic side, indie hit from last year, Content Warning, promises co-op horror with a viral twist, heading to both Switch platforms in 2026. The premise? Dive deep into an eerie world with friends, film spooky content, and upload it to “Spook Tube” to rake in views — all while trying not to run out of breath, batteries, or, well, teammates.

BALL X PIT, from developer Kenny Sun, is a roguelike bullet hell action game launching on October 15 for Switch, and Fall 2025 for Switch 2. With inspirations from Hole Down, Loop Hero, and Vampire Survivors, it features auto-scrolling levels, dozens of randomized balls with synergy-based upgrades, and a city-building mechanic to grow New Babylon.

Meanwhile, Little Kitty, Big City is getting a free update later this year, adding cat customization, new city areas, and camera upgrades for snapping those perfect mischief moments.

Also revealed, Well Dweller, a dark fairy tale Metroidvania developed by Kyle Thompson and published by Top Hat Studios, is coming to Nintendo Switch in 2026.

Ultimate Sheep Raccoon, a wacky bike-racing party game set to launch in Winter 2025 on both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. The game invites up to eight players — local, online, or cross-platform — to build their own obstacle-filled courses packed with traps, ramps, and ridiculous hazards.
