Sandfall Interactive is currently focusing on improving their hit game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 rather than developing new downloadable content, despite earlier hints that suggested otherwise.
The co-founders of Sandfall Interactive, Guillaume Broche and Tom Guillermin, have cleared up rumors about possible DLC for their highly successful game. In a recent interview with The Washington Post, they stated that their team is currently "focused now on making improvements to the current game" instead of creating new content.
This news might disappoint fans who were hoping for expansions to the popular RPG. The speculation about additional content began when the game's lead writer, Jennifer Svedberg-Yen, responded to a fan on Instagram with encouraging words about possible future content.
"We've always said if there is strong desire from the players that we would love to do something more, and based on the responses so far, I'd say chances are good," Svedberg-Yen had written, according to messages that appeared on gaming forum NeoGAF.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has been an unexpected success story since its release. The game quickly reached the top spot on Metacritic for new games this year with an impressive 92 percent critic score. Even more remarkable is that it sold over 2 million copies in its two weeks, despite launching shortly after the highly anticipated Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered.
The French development studio's debut project has earned praise from many, including France's President. Its unique blend of turn-based gameplay and striking visuals has captivated players worldwide.
Players who have completed the game have been eager for more content. Many fans have speculated that potential DLC could explore Expeditions Zero or 34, which were briefly mentioned in the main game's story. These areas could provide rich settings for new adventures without disrupting the original game's well-received endings.
While the developers haven't completely ruled out future expansions, their current priority is enhancing the existing game experience.
The studio has already begun implementing improvements, including balancing changes to some of the game's strongest attacks.
