Square Enix has officially shared how Octopath Traveler 0 will perform on Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and other consoles, giving players a clear picture ahead of its December 4, 2025 launch.
On the more powerful Xbox Series X, the upcoming RPG is set to run at up to 4K resolution with support for up to 120FPS. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series S will target up to 1080p resolution and the same up to 120FPS frame rate.
Interestingly, the team also revealed a unique hardware-related detail about the game’s “town-building” system. Both Series X and Series S will support a maximum of 500 buildings in custom towns, which is double the limit of the Nintendo Switch version at 250 buildings. For fans who enjoy the building aspect, this offers a noticeable advantage on Microsoft’s consoles.

On top of that, the title is also confirmed as Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing players to access it across both console and PC with a single purchase.
As the name suggests, Octopath Traveler 0 serves as a prequel to the mainline series, expanding on the lore and gameplay mechanics that fans have grown to love. The game is being positioned as one of Square Enix’s key RPG releases for the holiday season.
Players will have three editions to choose from at launch. The Standard Edition is priced at $49.99, while the Digital Deluxe Edition costs $59.99 and includes the Square Enix Digital Content Viewer along with exclusive add-ons in the Deluxe Travel Provisions pack. Those who pre-order digitally before December 3, 2025, will also receive bonus items such as Healing Grapes, Inspiriting Plums, Revitalizing Jam, and the Icewind Mastery skill to kickstart their journey.
