The post-apocalyptic survival game Once Human is officially set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles in 2026.
Developer Starry Studio made the announcement recently, confirming that the free-to-play title will be expanding from PC and mobile to consoles. Players can already wishlist the game on both the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store.
Originally released on PC via Steam on July 9, 2024, Once Human later made its way to iOS and Android in April 2025. A major update—version 2.0, titled “Dreamveil”—is also live now, bringing new content and gameplay tweaks across platforms.
At its heart, Once Human is all about surviving in a world gone sideways. The Earth has been taken over by a mysterious alien substance called Stardust, which has twisted everything—plants, animals, even the air itself. Most people didn’t make it, but you’re not like most people. You play as a “Meta-Human,” someone who’s not just immune to Stardust’s effects but can actually harness it to your advantage.
You’ll explore a massive 256 km² open world that includes everything from frozen wastelands and active volcanoes to deep swamps and harsh deserts. Whether you're scavenging, building, or just trying not to get eaten, the world offers plenty of ways to stay busy—and in danger.
Fighting off monstrous Deviants is part of the deal, and you don’t have to do it alone. The game encourages teaming up with other players to survive battles that test both your reflexes and your strategy. And yes, your weirdly adorable AI buddies—like a dragon chef or a gun-toting alpaca—are along for the ride too. These “Deviation Pals” aren’t just for laughs; they’ll help you fight, farm, and build your base (as long as you keep them happy).
The base-building system gives you full freedom to design your survival fortress. From adding cozy living spaces to setting up defensive traps, it’s your little slice of safety in a very unsafe world.
With its blend of supernatural lore, massive co-op potential, and evolving gameplay, Once Human is shaping up to be more than just another survival title. Console players will finally get their shot at this chaotic new world in 2026—and judging by its current momentum, the wait might just be worth it.
