At this year’s PC Gaming Show, Paralives—the much-hyped indie life simulator—finally confirmed its early access launch date.
Developed by Paralives Studio, the game will release on 8 December 2025 for PC and Mac, positioning itself as a strong competitor to The Sims franchise.
What Is Paralives?
Paralives is a life-simulation game where players can build dream homes, create unique characters called Parafolks, and manage their everyday lives in an open-world environment. It shares familiar DNA with The Sims series but brings its own twist with deeper customization tools and a player-first development philosophy.
Early Access Features: What You’ll Get Day One
The early access version launching this December isn’t a barebones demo—it’s a fully playable experience packed with core life-sim mechanics. Here's what you can expect at launch:
Character Creation: Includes traits, emotions, wants, skills, the ability to age, and even death mechanics.
Build Mode: A robust toolset featuring a "color wheel for everything"—from walls to clothes.
Height Slider: Yes, you can finally adjust how tall your characters are.
Character Autonomy: Parafolks will have minds of their own.
Shops & Restaurants: Fully interactable environments.
Modding Support: Paralives Studio is leaning into community creativity right from the start.

Post-Launch Roadmap: What’s Coming Later
While the initial early access release will be feature-rich, some highly requested content is still in the pipeline. These include:
Pets: Cats, dogs, and horses
Vehicles: Cars, bikes, and boats
Outdoor Fun: Swimming, fishing, gardening, and pools
Life Events & Tools: A calendar, family tree, NPC story progression, and social events like weddings and parties
The studio has been transparent about rolling out these features during the early-access period rather than locking them behind paid DLC.
No Paid Expansions—Ever
In a refreshing move for the genre, designer Alex Massé and the Paralives team have pledged that the game will never include paid expansions. In a February 2024 update (Thanks PCGamesN), they clarified their philosophy:
“We will keep making big updates and they will always remain free. As players ourselves, we believe that purchasing a game should come with the guarantee of a fleshed-out experience.”
This decision sets Paralives apart from competitors like The Sims 4, which relies heavily on DLC packs and expansions to deliver new content.
A Turbulent Time for Life Sims
The announcement comes on the heels of a chaotic year for Sims-like games. Paradox Interactive's Life by You was cancelled after multiple delays, while Inzoi, Krafton's attempt at an open-world life simulator, launched to mixed reactions, with many calling it lifeless and overly reliant on generative AI.
With Paralives, fans of the life-sim genre are finally getting a transparent, player-focused alternative—built from the ground up without corporate pressure or microtransactions.
Paralives launches in early access on 8 December 2025 for PC and Mac.
