Yuri Lowenthal, the beloved voice behind Yosuke Hanamura in Persona 4, has stirred up the fandom with a post that strongly hints a Persona 4 Remake is officially in development. While Atlus hasn’t made an announcement yet, Lowenthal’s comments—and a string of earlier clues—make it hard to deny: something big is coming.

What Did Yuri Lowenthal Say?

In a recent post on Bluesky, Lowenthal addressed fans directly:

“No, I will not be returning as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake. I asked. Maybe I even begged, but they don’t want me to come back.”

While he didn’t offer dates, platforms, or screenshots, this is the first time anyone directly connected to the series has called the game a “remake” in public.

Wait—A Persona 4 Remake?

If you’ve been following closely, this isn’t exactly out of nowhere. Here's why fans have been bracing for this announcement:

  • Domain: In March 2025, eagle-eyed fans discovered p4re.jp, a domain suspiciously similar to p3re.jp, which preceded the announcement of Persona 3 Reload.

  • Studio Clues: In February 2025, Persona vocalist Shihoko Hirata posted that she’d been recording new music at MIT Studio—the same studio responsible for recent Persona soundtracks.

  • The P3 Reload Effect: After the successful launch of Persona 3 Reload, fans and industry insiders alike have speculated that Persona 4 was next in line for a full-blown remake treatment.

What Could This Mean for the Cast?

Lowenthal’s post suggests Atlus is recasting roles for the remake, much like they did with Persona 3 Reload. That game featured a completely new English voice cast, giving the characters a modern refresh while retaining the spirit of the originals.

While this may be disappointing for longtime fans of the original voices, it also aligns with Atlus' strategy to modernize its classic titles for a new generation.

When Will It Be Official?

While we don’t have a date yet, speculation is heating up that Atlus might reveal the Persona 4 Remake at one of these upcoming events:

  • Summer Game Fest 2025 (June 6–9)

  • Xbox Games Showcase (June 8)

  • Tokyo Game Show 2025 (September 25–28)

Persona 4, first released in 2008, remains one of the most beloved entries in the series. Its small-town mystery, endearing cast, and mix of slice-of-life with supernatural suspense made it a fan favorite.

While Atlus has yet to officially confirm the Persona 4 Remake, all signs—including Yuri Lowenthal’s accidental reveal—point to its existence. At this point, it’s not a matter of “if,” but “when.”
