PlayStation Brazil has officially announced that prices for their "first-party games" will increase to R$399.90 (Brazilian reais) beginning in October 2025.
The price hike will start with the launch of "Ghost of Yotei" on October 2, 2025.
The gaming company cited "adverse currency conditions in Brazil" as the reason behind this decision (same reason cited during PS Plus hike).
Many fans first noticed the higher price when pre-orders for "Ghost of Yotei" appeared on the Brazilian PlayStation store at R$399.90, prompting questions and concerns from the gaming community.
According to the statement sent to Level Up by PlayStation Brazil:
"Due to adverse currency conditions in Brazil, the recommended retail price for Sony Interactive Entertainment first-party games (disc and digital) will increase to R$399.90 starting with the launch of Ghost of Yotei on October 2, 2025."
This price increase follows similar moves by other major gaming companies. Nintendo recently announced that games for its upcoming Switch 2 console would cost $80. Xbox also raised prices for its consoles, controllers, and games worldwide shortly after.
Many gamers are pointing fingers at Nintendo and Xbox for starting this trend, as many think these price hikes might just be the beginning, with more increases potentially coming in the future.
The gaming industry seems to be entering a period of significant price adjustments. Industry experts worry that continued price increases could negatively impact the gaming market as a whole, potentially reducing accessibility for many players.
PlayStation has not yet announced whether similar price increases will occur in other countries.
