Roblox’s farming simulation game Grow a Garden has officially surpassed 16 million concurrent players, making it one of the most-played online games of all time. The milestone was reached on June 14, 2025, during the game’s “Working Bees” event update, and it has since generated widespread attention across the gaming community.

This recent surge in player count means Grow a Garden has not only broken its own previous record of 11.7 million concurrent users but also overtaken Fortnite’s peak of 14.3 million, which was set during its Chapter 2 Remix live event back in November 2024. According to Bloxy News and other Roblox community trackers, the game peaked at 16,411,769 concurrent users — a figure that now stands as the highest ever for any single gaming title.

To put this in perspective, the game’s current numbers dwarf those of even the biggest titles on Steam. PUBG still holds the highest Steam concurrent player count at just over 3.2 million. Even when combined with the rest of Steam’s top five, their total still doesn’t come close to what Grow a Garden achieved in one day.

For those unfamiliar, Grow a Garden is a relaxing idle farming simulator where players manage a digital garden. They start with an empty plot, plant seeds, harvest crops, and slowly upgrade their garden by buying exotic plants, animals, and tools. What sets the game apart is its idle functionality — plants continue growing even when players are offline, making it appealing for casual gamers and busy players alike.

Some users have questioned the authenticity of its numbers, suggesting the possibility of bots inflating the player count. However, Roblox has pushed back on those claims. In a statement to Game File, a spokesperson clarified, “Grow a Garden’s global success is fueled by exceptional user retention, vibrant social interactions — with friends driving play — and strong Robux engagement. Our preliminary analysis confirms genuine popularity, not artificial inflation.”

The game's explosive growth comes after several strategic developments. Originally built in just three days by a 16-year-old developer, the title was later expanded by well-known Roblox creator Janzen Madsen and a development team. Eventually, Florida-based Do Big Studios invested in the game, pushing it into the spotlight with polished updates and marketing efforts.

The June 14 update (version 1.10.0) not just brought in millions of new players but also boosted Roblox’s stock to its highest level since 2021. As per Sherwood News, Grow a Garden has been a key driver behind a 75% increase in Roblox’s overall concurrent user base since December 2024.

According to Rolimon’s data, the player count did fall back to its daily average peak of around 3 million after the latest spike — still an impressive figure by any standard.

Looking ahead, the developers seem committed to keeping the momentum alive. Based on community feedback, fans are asking for new crops, pets, and decorative items, and those appear to be priorities for upcoming patches. With summer vacation ramping up globally, there’s a good chance the game could set even more records in the coming weeks.
