Roblox has announced two new creator programs, Roblox Incubator and Roblox Jumpstart, aimed at helping developers build and scale games on the platform.
The move comes as Roblox looks to grow its library of high-quality games, particularly those targeting an older, expanding user base.
The platform currently sees 144 million daily active users. According to Roblox, 27% of age-verified daily active users are over 18, and in the US, the 18 to 34 age group is growing at over 50% year-over-year, more than double the growth rate of the under-18 segment.
That is a big deal. And Roblox wants developers to build for that crowd.
What Is Roblox Incubator?
Incubator is a "six-month, milestone-driven program" built for "experienced teams." The goal is to take promising game concepts and shape them into polished, commercially successful titles.
Here is what it offers:
Up to 40 teams per cohort
Access to Roblox subject matter experts for mentorship
Support in building and growing an audience
Resources unlocked as teams hit key milestones
The program focuses on "novel games," meaning titles with fresh genres, new gameplay mechanics, and visual styles that push beyond what people typically expect from the platform.
Teams need to have a strong prototype ready, or at least a solid plan to build one, and must be willing to commit seriously to development during the program period.
What Is Roblox Jumpstart?
Jumpstart is a bit different. It is a continuous, rolling program designed for two types of creators. First, newer developers who are still learning how Roblox works. Second, experienced creators who want to explore new types of games.
Key details include:
Applications are open now and remain open on a rolling basis
Pitches kicked off in person at the Game Developers Conference
Participants get access to subject matter experts, similar to Incubator
On and off platform user acquisition support is also included
What Kind of Games Is Roblox Looking For?
Roblox has been fairly specific about the types of games it wants to see come out of these programs. The platform is particularly interested in genres that are currently underrepresented despite strong player demand, especially among older users.
The focus areas are:
Genres: RPG, strategy, and shooter games, along with genre mashups and unexpected combinations
Gameplay: Deep mechanics, metagame systems, and replayable experiences that blend depth with Roblox's social and multiplayer strengths
Visual style: High-fidelity 3D assets, stylized 2.5D sprites, and anything that makes players think "Wait, that's Roblox?"
Vlad Loktev, chief creator ecosystem officer at Roblox, summed up the vision behind these programs. "Our vision for Roblox is to be the platform for all ages, and we are calling on ambitious creators with bold ideas to build the next generation of experiences," he said. "These new programs provide the mentorship, resources, and discovery support needed to turn those visions into commercial hits."
The platform is also investing in supporting novel games outside of these two programs. According to Roblox, dedicated teams are already scouting for promising early-stage games, helping creators refine core loops, improve player retention, and optimize monetization. Once those games launch, Roblox plans to promote them through strategic curation and co-marketing support.
A Platform Built to Scale
Beyond the programs themselves, Roblox highlighted the tools it offers creators. Roblox Studio, the platform's integrated development environment, now includes AI capabilities through a built-in MCP client. It can generate code, build worlds, and help with debugging.
The Studio also functions as an MCP server, meaning external tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex can plug directly into creation workflows.
Add to that a powerful game engine with features like Instance Streaming and Texture Streaming, global infrastructure that scales to tens of millions of concurrent users, and creator analytics covering acquisition, retention, and monetization, and the toolkit is genuinely competitive.
Applications for both Roblox Incubator and Roblox Jumpstart are now open at the official Roblox creator site.
