Rockstar Games has strongly hinted that GTA RP will play a role in GTA 6, with recent announcements and partnerships suggesting that roleplay features may be integrated into the game’s online experience when it launches on May 26, 2026.
What Is GTA RP and Why Does It Matter?
If you’ve been on Twitch or YouTube in recent years, you’ve probably seen GTA RP in action. Short for “roleplay,” this community-driven mode transforms the open world into a stage for storytelling.
Players take on roles, whether as cops, criminals, business owners, or completely unique characters, and live out unscripted adventures.
The biggest platform behind this trend, FiveM, turned into a streaming sensation, with stars like xQc and Valkyrae drawing millions of viewers. Normally, Rockstar is strict about shutting down fan-led projects, but the studio took a different approach with RP, backing FiveM and recognizing its cultural impact.
NoPixel V Partners With Rockstar
On September 23, 2025, RP giant NoPixel announced “the next evolution of the GTA V Roleplay experience,” created in collaboration with Rockstar Games. Their new project, NoPixel V, is "coming soon" to the Rockstar Games Launcher and other PC platforms.
According to NoPixel’s statement, invites are already rolling out. Access will be "limited and by invitation only," though the team promises a lineup of “diverse and talented creators.”
Rockstar even retweeted the announcement, writing: “We’re excited to support the NoPixel team as they create the future of GTA RP.”
That last part, “the future of GTA RP,” is where speculation heats up. The wording doesn’t tie RP strictly to GTA V, which suggests Rockstar may be laying the groundwork for official support when GTA VI Online eventually goes live.
What Does This Mean for GTA 6?
While Rockstar hasn’t confirmed specifics, this collaboration is the clearest sign yet that RP will be part of the next chapter. So far, GTA 6 has only received two trailers, with most details focused on the single-player story set in Vice City. The online portion remains a mystery, but building RP into the foundation of GTA 6’s multiplayer would make sense given how massive the roleplay scene has become.
Supporting this idea, a job posting last month pointed toward serious plans for user-generated content (UGC), modded multiplayer experiences, and even video content tailored for GTA RP viewers. One standout listing, for a Senior Product Manager on Rockstar’s Creator Platform team in New York, stated that the candidate would lead product initiatives for platforms like FiveM, RedM, and related services, the very backbone of GTA RP. A second role, an Associate Compliance Manager based in Bangalore, suggested that Rockstar is taking a global approach to this creator-driven infrastructure.
It’s not an official confirmation just yet, but between Rockstar’s language, its partnership with NoPixel, and these job postings, all signs point to roleplay becoming a core part of GTA’s future.
