RuneScape: Dragonwilds Reveals Extensive Content Roadmap Leading to 2026 Launch

RuneScape: Dragonwilds

Jagex has unveiled a detailed roadmap for RuneScape: Dragonwilds that outlines numerous updates planned before the game's full release. The early access survival crafting game will receive new regions, skills, quests, and gameplay modes over the coming months.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds takes players in a different direction from the traditional MMORPG format. The game follows a group of explorers who sail to find the lost continent of Ashenfall, only to have their ship destroyed by dragons. Stranded in this dangerous new land, players must survive and find a way to signal for rescue.

In this four-player survival game, players use magic, tools, and weapons to defeat creatures and build structures.

According to the developer's presentation, the upcoming content includes a new region called Fellhollow. This mysterious area is described as being "suspended between life and death" and will be ruled by a Dragon Overlord named The Soul Eater Imaru. Players can expect guidance from a familiar RuneScape character, Death, who will provide missions in this new location.

The roadmap reveals numerous features currently in development, including:

  • New dragon overlord

  • Additional skills

  • Fresh quests and lore

  • Lesser dragons as a new enemy type

  • Dragon slayer gear

  • Masterwork weapons

  • Expanded base building options

  • Hardcore mode

  • Creative mode

  • New animals and critters

  • Additional vaults

  • New crafting tiers

  • Higher skill caps

Jagex is also working on ongoing improvements to various game systems. As per their update schedule, players can expect enhancements to tutorials, combat mechanics, performance optimization, multiplayer functionality, and environmental effects like lighting and weather.

In an interview with Jake Lucky, Mod Doom, Jagex's senior community manager, shared insights about their content delivery timeline:

"I'm hoping that we can deliver content updates on a regular basis. Our plan is to try and release something every three to four months to get something in front of players and get their feedback on it, to build on it, iterate, and then do a full launch in winter 2026."

This schedule suggests the first major update should arrive around July or August this year, while the final version of RuneScape: Dragonwilds remains about two years away. The game is currently available on Steam in early access.
