S8ul Esports has officially stepped into the League of Legends (LoL) competitive scene by signing a leading South Asian roster, making it the first Indian esports organisation to compete across 12 major titles.
The Mumbai-based organisation announced the acquisition of a six-player LoL lineup featuring notable names from across South Asia. The squad includes Indian players Akshaj Shenoy (Kat Bot), Aakash Shandilya (Infi), Ahmed Shahid (Nero), and Mihir Ranjan (Angelslotus), alongside Bangladesh’s Mehrab Uddin Ahmed (RTO) and Sri Lanka’s Tharuka Fernando (KratoZ).
These players are no strangers to international competition. They represented India at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, where esports debuted as an official medal event. The team advanced to the quarterfinals and finished in fifth place overall.
Prior to joining S8ul, the team, under previous banners like Temple of Kings and Asterisk, also racked up several major regional wins, including titles in Skyesports WD Black Cup 1 & 2, Pro League, and SMG South Asia Cup editions 1 through 3. Their momentum continued into 2025 with four more victories before making the switch to S8ul.
Commenting on the team’s debut under the S8ul banner, co-founder and CEO Animesh Agarwal, popularly known as 8Bit Thug, shared, “League of Legends is one of the most iconic esports titles in the world, and we believe this is the right moment for S8ul to step onto that stage. Our vision has always been to lead from the front.”
The squad is already in action, competing in Legends Ascend 2025 — a publisher-supported LoL amateur tournament in India. The competition, which offers a prize pool of ₹10 lakh, is set to conclude on August 3. More importantly, the winner will secure a spot in the LCP Wildcard Playoffs, a stepping stone to the League of Legends Championship Pacific, a prestigious regional circuit.
Team captain Akshaj ‘Kat Bot’ Shenoy expressed confidence in the new chapter. “Joining S8ul is a defining moment for us,” he said. “We’ve been grinding together for years, and now we’re ready to prove our mettle at the highest level.”
With this move, S8ul now has active rosters in a wide range of competitive games — from Valorant and Battlegrounds Mobile India, to Tekken 8, StarCraft II, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, among others. This broad expansion reflects their growing influence not just in India but in the wider Asian esports scene.
The organisation also has its sights set on the upcoming Esports World Cup in Riyadh, where it has already qualified in 8 esports titles out of 25.
