Saros Release Date, Platforms, Editions, Price, Story, and Gameplay Details

Housemarque is back with another ambitious PlayStation exclusive, and this time it’s Saros. Building on the studio’s reputation from Returnal, Saros promises a mix of fast-paced combat, emotional storytelling, and a mysterious sci-fi setting.

The game was recently showcased at The Game Awards 2025, where a new trailer revealed more about its world, characters, and mechanics.


Players will step into the role of Arjun Devraj, a Soltari Enforcer portrayed by Rahul Kohli. Arjun’s journey takes place on Carcosa, a hostile alien planet under a permanent eclipse. Carcosa isn’t just a backdrop—it reshapes itself every time you die, offering new paths, enemy encounters, and environmental details. This mechanic ensures that no two runs feel the same, blending narrative depth with replayability.


The cast includes Jane Perry as Sheridan Bouchard, Ben Prendergast as Jerome Jackson, and David DeSantos as Sebastian Torres, alongside other voice talents. Housemarque has described Saros as its “biggest and most ambitious story yet,” aiming to deliver a haunting character study about the cost of building a new future.


The trailer showcased advanced combat mechanics, including a parry system where perfectly timed inputs reflect projectiles back at enemies. Combined with Housemarque’s signature mobility—dashes, melee strikes, and loadout customization—Saros emphasizes aggressive, fluid combat. Players can mix Soltari (human) weapons with Carcosan (alien) gear, experimenting with different builds before each run.


Release Date Update

Originally slated for March 20, 2026, Saros has been delayed slightly. The new release date is April 30, 2026, launching exclusively on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro. A PC version is expected later, following the same path as Returnal.
