SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio are preparing a major showcase ahead of the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) 2025. While the specifics remain under wraps, the studio’s track record suggests plenty of new announcements could be on the way.

Ryu Ga Gotoku (RGG) has been on a roll in recent years, largely thanks to the global success of the Yakuza, now known as the Like a Dragon, series. Although it took time to gain traction in Western markets, the franchise has become a regular highlight with new releases almost every year. Earlier in 2025, fans were treated to Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, which received a strong response. Since no new entry has been officially revealed yet, many are expecting the upcoming event to fill that gap.

The newly announced RGG Summit is scheduled for September 24, 2025, at 12 PM JST, one day before TGS officially kicks off. According to SEGA, the event will be followed by an RGG Direct, offering a deeper dive into whatever surprises are unveiled. Though no titles have been confirmed, the studio has multiple projects currently in development.

One of the most talked-about projects is Stranger Than Heaven, a next-gen title that blends the familiar Yakuza gameplay style with a story spanning decades of Japanese history. Another anticipated project is Project Virtua Fighter, which already showcased gameplay footage during EVO 2025. Both are expected to get more attention during the showcase.

Some expect the reveal of the next Like a Dragon mainline entry, while others believe a remake of Yakuza 3 — possibly branded as Yakuza Kiwami 3 — could be in the works.

For now, all eyes are on the September showcase, which might just set the tone for RGG’s future.
