Singapore has officially launched its first National Esports Training Centre.
Located at GR.iD Mall in Selegie, the facility spans approximately 600 square metres and features over 100 gaming stations along with a competition arena that can accommodate up to 150 spectators.
It is operated by the Singapore Esports Association (SGEA) and is designed to serve as the central hub for the country's national esports teams and developing talent.
Singapore is actively preparing its athletes for the Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, where esports will be part of the official medal event lineup. Looking further ahead, the centre will also play a key role in gearing up for the 2029 SEA Games, which Singapore will host on home soil.
Beyond just gaming stations, the facility is built to support training programs, competitions, and broader community initiatives.
The opening also comes on the back of a legislative milestone. Earlier in 2026, Singapore passed legislation formally recognising esports as a sport, placing it in the same category as traditional and mind sports like chess and bridge.
That move opened the door for national sports bodies to provide more structured support, covering everything from training pathways to athlete development programs.
Singapore has already shown it can hold its own as a host for major esports events. The country welcomed The International 2022, the prestigious global Dota 2 championship, and has steadily built its reputation in the international esports circuit since then.
