Skyesports successfully hosted the first-ever Gaming Thiruvizha, a gamescom-like event, at the Chennai Trade Centre on August 30–31, attracting over 17,000 fans across two days of non-stop entertainment.

The festival wasn’t just another gaming event — it featured esports LAN battles, colorful cosplay walks, live stand-up comedy, and even Tamil cultural showcases.

Families, college students, and even children showed up in large numbers, highlighting how gaming and anime have moved beyond being niche interests to becoming mainstream cultural movements.

Gaming Thiruvizha was powered by AMD, with ticketing handled exclusively by KYN. The event was organized in association with the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) and supported by AGS Cinemas as the Chennai Edition Theatre Partner.

As per the official press release, several dignitaries, including Meghantha Reddy from SDAT, Darez A. (MD, Guidance Tamil Nadu), and Gayathri Thyagarajan (Founder & CEO, Kynhood Technologies), attended the festival, signaling official recognition of gaming’s growing role in Tamil Nadu’s cultural economy.

Shiva Nandy, Founder and CEO of Skyesports, expressed his excitement at the overwhelming response: “We couldn’t have asked for a better first edition. The energy of the crowd reminded us why we built this IP—to bridge the gap between casual gamers and esports, and to create a space where gaming, anime, and culture thrive together. Next up, we’ll be taking this concept to Bangalore in late September.”

Key highlights of the two-day event included LAN tournaments for BGMI, Valorant, and other competitive titles, a pan-India cosplay competition judged by leading creators, and the first-ever Red Bull Armageddon chess tournament in India, which drew over 350 players and featured International Master Tania Sachdev and Grandmaster M. Shyam Sundar.

The event also hosted buzzing merch alleys, anime collectibles, and meet-and-greets with esports teams like Team Tamilas.

The Chennai edition was just the start of Skyesports’ Gaming Mahotsav tour, which will later expand to Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kochi, and Pune this year.
