During MrBeast’s record-breaking charity livestream on Kick, 20-year-old OnlyFans creator Sophie Rain stunned both viewers and hosts by pledging $1 million to the Team Water initiative. The donation, which instantly made her the top individual contributor among creators, left MrBeast, Adin Ross, and xQc visibly shocked.
The livestream — co-hosted by Adin Ross and Félix “xQc” Lengyel — had already made headlines by raising over $12 million in just 15.5 hours, breaking the Guinness World Record for the most money raised for charity in a single stream. MrBeast’s broader goal for August is to hit $40 million, a target set alongside fellow creator Mark Rober to provide clean drinking water to 2 million people worldwide.
Rain’s surprise contribution happened live on air when she called into the stream. "I’ve been wanting to donate," she told the group. "I'm just not sure how to, so I'm glad you called me because I want to donate $1 million." Her announcement left MrBeast speechless, prompting him to double-check: "You sure?!" She replied without hesitation, "I am 100% sure. This is an awesome cause… I just want to support this because it's awesome."
The Miami-based creator later took to X, writing:
"Call it dirty money, but I still donated $1m more than you did, thank you for the opportunity TeamWater."
While many praised her generosity, the donation quickly became a talking point due to the source of her income. Rain claims to have earned over $43 million from OnlyFans in one year, spending her earnings on luxury purchases including a private jet, multiple cars, and a multimillion-dollar farmhouse. Critics argue that accepting money from adult content earnings "dilutes the purity" of the charity’s mission, while supporters see it as a pragmatic move — focusing on the impact rather than the origin.
Despite the controversy, Rain’s $1 million places her within the top 20 on the Team Water leaderboard, alongside major donors like Citadel CEO Ken Griffin ($2.25M), Kick.com ($2M), Shopify CEO Tobias Lütke ($1.5M), and YouTube/Google’s $2M matching fund.
Regardless of opinion, her donation undeniably boosted the campaign’s momentum and kept MrBeast’s record-breaking stream in the spotlight.
