Starfield’s Next DLC Probably Won’t Drop Until 2026, Say Leakers

Bethesda’s space RPG Starfield isn’t getting its second DLC anytime soon—at least not in 2025.

The update comes from a ResetEra post by known leaker NateTheHate, who responded to a fan asking about more Starfield content. He confirmed "another DLC expansion is still to come — though it doesn't seem like it'll make 2025 at this point."

This lines up with earlier claims from Windows Central’s Jez Corden, who said on a recent podcast that Bethesda is currently working on both Starfield DLC and The Elder Scrolls VI.

Bethesda Game Studios’ creative director Todd Howard first confirmed that Starfield would receive a second paid expansion during an interview with YouTuber MrMattyPlays in mid-June 2024. In that discussion, Howard made it clear that Shattered Space won’t be the only story add-on and hinted at the team’s goal of “planning for the one after.”

However, there’s been no announcement from Bethesda or Microsoft since then, which isn’t too surprising. But the fact that two reliable sources are now pointing in the same direction has fans thinking this second DLC is legit—it’s just going to take a bit longer to arrive.

Starfield launched back in September 2023 and, while it had a lot of hype behind it, reactions over time were pretty mixed. Players criticized the shift from Bethesda’s signature handcrafted environments to more procedurally generated worlds. The studio tried to win people back with Shattered Space, released in 2024, but even though it was praised for its return to classic Bethesda-style storytelling, it didn’t do much to boost player numbers.

Now, the pressure is definitely on for this next expansion. If it doesn’t land well, Bethesda might start to scale back post-launch support. That said, the game’s modding community is still going strong. Starfield has even overtaken Morrowind on Nexus Mods when it comes to downloads, which is impressive and suggests that fans are keeping the game alive in their own way.
