Steam Replay 2025 has officially gone live, giving players a detailed look at their gaming habits over the past year.

While the feature is designed to let users reflect on their personal playtime, the broader data it reveals about the Steam community paints an interesting picture of how PC gamers are spending their time.

Despite several big releases in 2025, including Expedition 33, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Battlefield 6, and ARC Raiders, the majority of playtime still went to older titles. According to Steam Replay, only 14% of total playtime came from games released in 2025.

Games released between one and seven years ago accounted for 44% of total playtime, showing that players continue to invest heavily in relatively recent titles.

Meanwhile, classics released eight or more years ago made up 40% of playtime, proving that long-standing staples like DOTA 2 and PUBG: Battlegrounds remain dominant forces in the PC gaming landscape.

Looking back at previous years, the trend becomes even clearer. In 2024, new releases captured 15% of playtime, while games between one and seven years old held 47%, and older titles claimed 37%.

In 2023, only 9% of playtime was spent on new games, with recent releases taking 52% and classics 38%.

The data also revealed that the median number of games played by Steam users sits at only 4, suggesting that PC gamers are increasingly focusing on a smaller selection of titles rather than constantly switching between different games. This trend indicates that players are finding more long-term value and engagement in established titles, whether they're multiplayer favorites or single-player experiences with lasting appeal.
