Resident Evil: Veronica Opened the Show

Capcom kicked things off with the official reveal of Resident Evil: Veronica, a remake of the 2000 survival horror game Resident Evil: Code Veronica.

Claire Redfield returns as the lead, marking her first appearance in a Resident Evil game since the RE2 remake.

The teaser also showed H.U.N.K, who was notably absent from the original Code Veronica despite having a clear presence in the franchise's lore. His inclusion hints that the remake may make some deliberate story changes alongside the expected overhaul in gameplay and visuals.

The game is expected to arrive sometime around March 2027, though no official date has been confirmed. It is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation: What Was Revealed?

Square Enix closed the show with the biggest reveal of the night. Final Fantasy VII Revelation is the third and final entry in the FF7 Remake trilogy, and it is coming in spring 2027 simultaneously on PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Game director Naoki Hamaguchi took the stage in person to confirm the multiplatform day-one launch, and Vincent Valentine voice actor Matt Mercer appeared to introduce new gameplay footage.

The story picks up from where Final Fantasy VII Rebirth left off. Cloud and his companions must stop Sephiroth, who is nearing godhood, while dealing with grief and a world on the edge of annihilation. The party boards the Highwind airship and sets out across the entire planet. According to Square Enix, "the entire planet serves as the stage," with new regions such as Mideel and Wutai joining areas from previous entries. The Highwind serves as both a travel hub and a dramatic set piece, with players able to skydive directly from the airship into the open world below.

Two characters who were not playable in Rebirth, Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind, are fully playable in Revelation. They join Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Red XIII, Yuffie, and Cait Sith as part of the roster.

The gameplay trailer showed the Weapons, the monstrous planetary guardians familiar to fans of the original 1997 game, making their long-awaited appearance in the remake trilogy.

The new combat system is called FITS, short for Function Integrated Tactical Suitwear. It is essentially a job system. Players equip their characters with different outfits to unlock unique movesets and abilities that evoke classic Final Fantasy archetypes like the Warrior and Black Mage. Players can layer this with the existing weapons and materia customization system. Players with save data from either the upgraded Remake Intergrade or Rebirth will receive bonus summon Materia in Revelation.

Major New Reveals

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is back. This adaptation of acclaimed dark comic series has seen a rocky development, first announced with Black Forest as developer and THQ Nordic as publisher, before stalling after Skydance merged with Paramount. Now revived under the newly formed Paramount Games Studio, the project has been handed to PlatinumGames, the studio known for the Bayonetta series and Ninja Gaiden 4. The SGF teaser revealed little about gameplay. The Last Ronin tells the story of Michelangelo as the sole surviving Turtle, returning to avenge his fallen brothers by hunting down Shredder's grandson.

Gen ATLAS is a sci-fi adventure from Fumito Ueda, the mind behind Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian. Announced at SGF, it’s being developed by genDESIGN and published by Epic Games Publishing for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC via the Epic Games Store. The story follows a player who wakes up on a deserted planet, surrounded by the remnants of a mysterious grand design. At its heart is a massive robot whose power unlocks new paths and reshapes the player’s understanding of the world. The trailer delivers Ueda’s signature mix of emotional weight and quiet loneliness, with vast environments of empty plains and shifting seas reminiscent of Shadow of the Colossus. A release date has yet to be revealed.

Stellar Blade: Blood Rain from Shift Up was an unexpected appearance at SGF. The sequel continues past the events of the first game and introduces a new protagonist named Evie, who fights with fast, close-range punches and kicks rather than the sword-focused style of the original's Eve. According to Shift Up, the project is still in early development, so the reveal was more of an early tease than a full announcement.

Guild Wars 3 from ArenaNet was a massive moment for MMO fans. The last mainline entry, Guild Wars 2, launched nearly 15 years ago. The new game is described as the next evolution of the MMORPG and is in development for PC and PS5, with no Xbox version mentioned. A beta is scheduled for fall 2027.

Alien: Isolation 2 from Creative Assembly got a new trailer at SGF. Creative director Al Hope confirmed the team is building a game around escaping a xenomorph, this time set on a planetary colony rather than a spaceship. Players explore a colony base and the landscape around it, hunted by a single alien that has broken free from containment. The game is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. No release date has been set.

1666 Amsterdam from Patrice Desilets and Panache Digital Games is a dark third-person action-adventure set in 17th-century Amsterdam, a project that has been more than a decade in the making. A free 30-minute prologue is available right now on Steam and the Epic Games Store. The full game enters early access on PC later in 2026. "It's been a long time coming, and I couldn't be prouder of our team of nearly 70 talented developers in Montreal," Desilets said at the showcase.

Gundam Rogue Orbit from Bandai Namco is a high-mobility action game set in a brand-new Gundam timeline. Players take on the role of ace pilot RE-X and fight aboard Gundam Helix against an unknown threat. It is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2027.

Virtua Fighter Crossroads from RGG Studio and Sega is the long-awaited follow-up to Virtua Fighter 5, which came out in 2005. The trailer revealed the game has a surprisingly narrative-driven structure, built around four main protagonists exploring the city of Vilasapara in third person, with choices both in and out of combat shaping alliances and story flow. The production team includes Ghost of Tsushima writer Brad Kane as lead writer, David Hayter handling world-building, and Persona 5 writer Shinji Yamamoto on scenario duties. The game is due in 2027.

Attack on Titan 3 from Koei Tecmo and Omega Force is the most ambitious entry in the game series yet, covering the full story of the anime from beginning to end in a single title for the first time. Hange's final stand and Levi's iconic confrontation with the Beast Titan were among the moments shown in the reveal trailer. The original Japanese voice cast is returning. New story content beyond the main narrative has also been confirmed. The game is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. A dedicated livestream is scheduled for July 1, 2026.

Crossfire from That's No Moon is a narrative-driven single-player third-person shooter, reimagining Smilegate's long-running multiplayer franchise as a cinematic solo experience. The game's standout feature is its adaptive cover system. Rather than snapping to chest-high walls, the player character dynamically adjusts their body to match the real terrain around them. The story follows two characters on opposite ends of the political spectrum, Layla Qassam played by Claudia Doumit (The Boys) and Delroy Cross played by Ricky Whittle (American Gods), who are forced to work together against a shared existential threat. No release date has been announced.

Blood Message from NetEase is a cinematic action-adventure set in the late Tang Dynasty in 848 AD. A nameless messenger undertakes a perilous journey of over 1,000 miles to deliver something that could determine the fate of his homeland. The trailer was almost entirely cinematics, but the game was playable for press at SGF. No release date has been given.

Haex from Swedish studio Dead Astronauts is a cooperative first-person survival shooter set in an alien-scarred wilderness covered in paranormal mist. Players track down missing members of a science expedition while managing cold, hunger, thirst, and increasingly dangerous alien threats. As confirmed in the trailer, Anakin Skywalker is in the game as a prominent ally unit.

Two New Cuphead Games from Studio MDHR at SGF. The first is a proper sequel to the 2017 original, described as a new hand-animated game that will take the beloved characters on a fresh adventure. It is in the earliest stages of development with no title, footage, or release window yet.

The second is Mighty Cuphead Adventure, an 8-bit action platformer being developed by a smaller team within the studio.

Saw: Genesis from Bloober Team, Broken Mirror Games, and Anshar Studios is a 3v1 asymmetrical multiplayer horror game set in the aftermath of World War I. The Judge manipulates traps and passages while three Accused work together to escape procedurally generated levels. An early access launch is set for fall 2026.

Among Us Story: On Guard was announced by Innersloth as a standalone narrative spin-off. Players take on the role of Guard, the ship's security officer, investigating a murder while under suspicion themselves. It is coming to PC and Nintendo Switch and is available to pre-order on Steam. In a surprise move, the Among Us animated series simultaneously shadow-dropped on Paramount+, with all 10 episodes available to stream immediately.

Racing Games

Star Wars: Galactic Racer from Fuse Games showed a new story trailer at SGF. The game brings podracing from The Phantom Menace into a modern package, featuring licensed vehicles, a narrative campaign set in the lawless Outer Rim, and a villain named Kestar Bool atop the Galactic League. It is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on October 6.

Clutch from Maverick Games, the studio founded by former Forza Horizon creative director Mike Brown, got a story trailer showing off its Monaco and French Riviera setting. Little Simz and Tosin Cole lead the cast. It is coming in spring 2027 to PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
