A new listing has surfaced suggesting that Assassin’s Creed Shadows could be making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2 console.

French retailer Auchan briefly posted the game on its website, complete with what appeared to be official box art. The description, written in French, invited players to “experience Assassin’s Creed Shadows in a whole new way with Nintendo Switch 2.”
It also reveals that the Switch 2 version will be distributed as a Game-Key Card, similar to Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws: Gold Edition on the same platform.

This isn’t the first time Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been associated with Switch 2. In April, the game showed up in the PEGI database, listing Switch 2 as a supported platform, even though the actual page left it out. One possible reason is that PEGI can hide unconfirmed platforms until publishers officially announce them, and in this case, the Switch 2 mention might have slipped through earlier than planned.
During a recent shareholder forum, CEO Yves Guillemot also teased that “new versions” of Shadows would arrive on “other machines.” Meanwhile, CFO Frederick Duguet confirmed, as reported by IGN, that Ubisoft has another unannounced Switch 2 game planned for the current fiscal year. While he didn’t name Assassin’s Creed Shadows directly, the combination of these statements makes the connection hard to ignore.
For Nintendo fans, this would be a significant milestone. The Switch has hosted Assassin’s Creed before, but only through remasters and collections like Black Flag and The Ezio Collection. None of the newer RPG-style entries, from Origins to Valhalla, ever made it to the platform. If Shadows does arrive on Switch 2, it would mark the first time in over a decade that a brand-new Assassin’s Creed title launches on a Nintendo console.
Originally released in March 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Mac, GeForce Now, and Amazon Luna, Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes players to feudal Japan. The game features dual protagonists: Naoe, a skilled shinobi, and Yasuke, an African samurai inspired by the real historical figure. Critics praised its refined stealth mechanics, cinematic storytelling, and ambitious open-world design. According to reviews, it’s widely considered one of the strongest entries in the franchise in years. Ubisoft also revealed that the game has already attracted over 5 million players.
The first major expansion, Claws of Awaji, launched last month, adding a new storyline set on Awaji Island.
