Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to officially launch on November 19, 2026, as long as there aren’t any further delays.
The game has already cemented itself as one of "the largest game launches in history," and fans are eagerly waiting to finally get their hands on it. With Rockstar Games keeping details tightly under wraps, speculation and theories have become the community’s favorite pastime.
Yet, in a rare and deeply emotional turn of events, one fan may have secured the chance to experience the game much earlier than anyone else.
The story began in December when Anthony Armstrong, a UI Integrator at Ubisoft Toronto, shared a heartfelt message on LinkedIn.
Armstrong revealed that a member of his family had been battling cancer for years and had recently received devastating news: doctors had given them only 6-12 months to live.
In his post, Armstrong explained that this family member is "a huge GTA fan," but the timeline meant he would not live long enough to see GTA 6’s official launch after years of anticipation.
He urged Rockstar Games to arrange "an exclusive playtest" so his loved one could enjoy the game before passing.
Weeks later, Armstrong updated the post with encouraging news. He wrote that the CEO of Take-Two Interactive eventually "reached out" and that they were now waiting to hear from the Rockstar team "to discuss this further."
Finally, Armstrong shared one last update. He confirmed they had spoken with Rockstar Games and received "great news," though he couldn't share specific details about what was discussed or arranged.

The post was later deleted, which many believe was due to legal or confidentiality requirements.
This isn’t the first time Rockstar Games has shown compassion in such circumstances. Back in 2018, a terminally ill gamer named Jurian from the Netherlands, battling a rare hereditary condition called Neurofibromatosis type 2, was granted the opportunity to play Red Dead Redemption 2 weeks before its release.
Other studios have also honored fans in similar ways. Bethesda immortalized players in Fallout 4 and Starfield, while Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight Silksong included a touching tribute by turning a late fan into a boss fight, NPC, and sidequest series.
