After more than three years since its initial announcement, The Alters finally has an official release date — and fans won’t have to wait much longer. Developed by 11 Bit Studios, known for This War of Mine and Frostpunk, this ambitious sci-fi survival title launches on June 13, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

What Is The Alters?

The Alters follows Jan Dolski, a lone miner who crash-lands on a dangerous planet bathed in lethal radiation. With no crew to help him, Jan is forced to operate a massive mobile base meant for a full team — all by himself. That is, until he discovers a mysterious substance that allows him to create “Alters” — alternative versions of himself spawned by making different life choices in his past.

Each Alter has a unique personality, skillset, and needs. Some are helpful, others might be emotionally fragile or even hostile. Your task is to manage this complex team of versions of yourself, keep the mobile base running, gather resources, and make hard choices — all while the clock ticks toward your potential survival or demise.

This isn’t your standard survival game. The Alters places a strong focus on choice-driven gameplay and emotional storytelling. You’ll never be able to please all your Alters, and how you handle their personalities and conflicts could directly impact Jan’s chance of survival.
