CD Projekt Red might not be done with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt just yet, as new reports suggest that the game could receive a third story-driven DLC expansion—almost ten years after its last one. Interestingly, this potential content will not be developed by CD Projekt Red directly but by another studio, Fool’s Theory.

According to a report by Polish podcast duo Rock and Boris (via MP1st), the rumored DLC is being developed externally at Fool’s Theory, a studio formed by former CD Projekt Red developers, including key figures from The Witcher 3’s original team. One of them is Kuba Rokosz, who worked as a lead quest designer for the game.

This would be the third major DLC for The Witcher 3, following Hearts of Stone (2015) and Blood & Wine (2016), both of which received critical acclaim. While CD Projekt Red has been heavily focused on The Witcher 4—its next main entry in the franchise—it appears the company still sees value in revisiting Geralt’s journey once more.

In their podcast, Rock and Boris also discussed the possible release roadmap for upcoming CD Projekt Red projects: first console mod support, then the new Witcher 3 DLC, followed by The Witcher 4, and eventually a full remake of The Witcher 1.

Earlier this year, CD Projekt Red celebrated The Witcher 3’s 10th anniversary by announcing mod support for consoles, with cross-platform modding also planned to arrive later this year. This hinted that the studio still had plans to keep Wild Hunt relevant to both new and returning players. The possibility of new narrative content adds another layer of excitement.

It remains unclear whether this potential third DLC will be free or offered as paid content. No official release date or confirmation has been provided by CD Projekt Red at this stage. As such, fans should treat this news as speculation until an official announcement is made.

As for The Witcher 4, the upcoming title is expected to have a map size similar to Wild Hunt and feature a comparable number of quests. A recent tech demo gave fans an early look at the engine and design direction, although CD Projekt Red emphasized that the footage does not represent the final game.
