New rumors about the long-awaited Titanfall 3 have emerged, bringing both excitement and skepticism to fans of the popular first-person shooter franchise. While some leakers claim the game is nearly finished and heading for a 2026 release, a well-known gaming journalist has firmly denied these reports and advised fans not to get their hopes up.
The latest round of rumors began when Apex Legends leaker Osvaldatore shared specific details about the supposed Titanfall 3 project on social media. According to Osvaldatore, who has accurately leaked Apex Legends content in the past, Titanfall 3 is "almost complete" and being developed using Unreal Engine 5. The leaker described an ambitious project featuring both a single-player campaign and live service elements with battle passes.
Osvaldatore's claims went into considerable detail, suggesting the game would include an extraction-based main mode alongside classic game types from Titanfall 2, plus team deathmatch, control points, and arena modes.
The leak also mentioned that some Apex Legends characters would appear in the game, along with a dynamic weather system.

These reports generated significant buzz among fans who have been waiting for a sequel to 2016's critically acclaimed Titanfall 2. The original games combined traditional first-person shooter gameplay with innovative giant mech combat and movement mechanics that influenced many later titles, including Respawn's own successful battle royale, Apex Legends.
However, veteran gaming journalist Jeff Grubb quickly responded to these claims on his Game Breaking News program with a direct contradiction: "This isn't real," Grubb stated. "I'm sorry. It's not real."
Grubb did acknowledge that Respawn Entertainment likely has a small team "messing around with games that have titans in them" and suggested that Titanfall 1 director Steve Fukuda might be working on some form of prototype. However, he firmly rejected the idea that a fully-featured sequel would be announced in 2025 or released in 2026 as the leakers claimed.
"Do not expect an Unreal Engine 5, single player campaign Titanfall 3 with a full multiplayer suite," Grubb warned fans, adding that he hated "being the one to rain on the parade."

Grubb's skepticism is rooted in Electronic Arts' recent history of canceling Respawn projects, including what he referred to as "Titanfall Legends," which he described as a "previous version of Titanfall 3." This pattern of cancellations makes the prospect of a nearly complete sequel unlikely in his view.
The conflicting reports reflect the complicated history of Titanfall 3 rumors. In 2021, a Respawn community coordinator stated there was "nothing in the works" regarding Titanfall, although the studio later posted on social media that "Titanfall is the very core of our DNA" and teased "who knows what the future holds." By 2023, Respawn CEO Vince Zampella had directly stated that Titanfall 3 was not in development, though he expressed personal interest in seeing it happen someday.
Even retail confusion added fuel to the fire — in 2022, several German GameStop locations mistakenly listed Titanfall 3 for pre-order, but those turned out to be internal placeholders rather than official confirmation.
For Titanfall enthusiasts, this latest back-and-forth represents another chapter in the emotional journey of hoping for a sequel to one of gaming's most innovative shooter franchises. While Osvaldatore and fellow leaker Yorotsuki maintain confidence in their source's information about a 2026 release with a potential 2025 Game Awards reveal, Grubb's direct contradiction suggests fans should manage their expectations.
Neither EA nor Respawn Entertainment has made any official statements regarding these latest rumors, leaving the true status of Titanfall 3 uncertain.
For now, the safest approach for fans might be to follow Grubb's advice and not get their hopes up for Titanfall 3 anytime soon.
