Twitch Star Kai Cenat Launches First-Ever Streamer University at Akron Campus

Twitch streamer Star Kai Cenat visits and launches the Streamer University at University of Akron

Popular Twitch streamer Kai Cenat has officially launched “Streamer University” at the University of Akron in Ohio, bringing together more than 120 aspiring content creators for a weekend-long (May 22-25) "crash course" in content creation.

Cenat confirmed the location during his first livestream while welcoming students to campus. With this project, he’s reopening the “college chapter” in his own life—just with his own twist.

His YouTube videos like Streamer University First Day Orientation! and Meeting With Every Student in Streamer University show the dual purpose of the program: to boost his own content while mentoring a new wave of creators.

What Makes Streamer University Different

Think of Streamer University as boot camp for the next generation of internet stars. According to Kai, it’s an in-person academy focused on four core pillars: creating engaging content, growing your audience, monetizing your brand, and mastering streaming tech.

Applications opened in early May—and within minutes, over one million people tried to get in. The demand was so overwhelming that it crashed the site. For context: your odds of getting in were lower than being accepted into Harvard.

On May 18, Cenat announced the first class of Streamer University. All selected participants are flown in, housed, and fed on Cenat’s dime, so they can focus entirely on learning and networking.

Celebrity Professors Lead Wildly Unique Classes

Instead of tenured professors with PowerPoints, Streamer University features some of the biggest names on the internet—and the class list reads like something straight out of a creator’s dream.

  • Duke Dennis is running Physical Education (don’t expect dodgeball).

  • DDG is teaching Internet Beef 101—because handling online drama is apparently a real skill now.

  • ImDontai is covering Defense Against Hating—which honestly should be a required course for any online personality.

Other “professors” include cookingwithkya, India Love, Funny Marco, and Cenat himself, who’s breaking down exactly how he built his empire from scratch.

Rumors suggest Cenat has reached out to mega-creators like MrBeast and Mark Rober to lead special sessions in finance and science—though their involvement hasn’t been confirmed yet. Some class slots (like sex ed, business, acting, and music) are still TBD on the website.

Why the University of Akron?

This wasn’t a random pick. According to The Economic Times, Cenat had already made surprise appearances at several college campuses, including Akron, to test the waters. His May visit to Akron drew massive student crowds and went viral—proving there was real interest and energy.

These visits helped him scout out locations, gauge logistics, and decide where to launch. Akron turned out to be the right fit. In the weeks leading up to Streamer U, he made similar surprise stops in Georgia and Florida.

A Diverse Group of Creators

The 2025 class features a wide mix of creators—some with established followings, others just starting out. Notable names include Ayemariiii, Keeyahthecreator, Deshae Frost, and Maleni from Chicklet & Maleni. You can check the full list here.

Cenat personally reviewed applications, choosing students based on their potential and passion for learning.

Campus Rules and Security

With over 17 million Twitch followers, Cenat’s presence brings a lot of attention—so security’s no joke. During his opening livestream, he made it crystal clear: only registered students are allowed on campus.

Police are stationed around the university, cameras are everywhere, and undercover security is also in place. Cenat warned that trespassers will be removed and possibly arrested. No gate-crashing allowed.

What to Expect on Campus

The orientation session gave students their first real taste of life at Streamer U. Highlights include:

  • Campus Setup: Feels like a real college, but built for content creators.

  • Facilities: Gaming stations, recording booths, sports centers—and yes, even a fancy ramen station.

  • Rules: Mandatory class attendance, curfew at 10:30 PM, and structured schedules.

  • Gear: Each student received a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra with T-Mobile 5G to stream their daily experiences.

  • Surprises: Giveaways, including a $10,000 prize from MrBeast, keep the energy high.

It’s a mix of fun, structure, and career-building—all wrapped up in a hyper-social, livestream-friendly package.

If the pilot program goes well, Cenat may expand the model to other campuses—or even launch multiple sessions per year.

It’s part scripted, part real—and fully entertaining.
