Digital Extremes has officially marked a decade of TennoCon, Warframe’s annual community celebration, with a packed showcase that gave fans a comprehensive look at what lies ahead for the game.

The event, held in London, Ontario, and streamed globally, was attended by thousands in person and millions online—highlighting just how far Warframe has come since its launch in 2013.

The studio revealed The Old Peace, the next major narrative chapter in Warframe’s long-running sci-fi saga. Set for release later in 2025, the update will include a full cinematic Quest, an emotionally rich Side Story titled The Devil's Triad, a new devil-themed Warframe named Uriel, and major improvements to the game's Operator system.

Alongside it, Digital Extremes also teased its 2026 narrative expansion Tau, which will build upon the events of The Old Peace.

Rebecca Ford, Creative Director of Warframe, shared heartfelt words during the event, saying, “Ten years of TennoCon is such a mind-boggling thing to say out loud… Our community is everything to us; we wouldn’t be here without them.” She emphasized that continuing to host TennoCon and unite players from across the globe remains a “privilege” and promised to carry that spirit into next year’s celebrations.

The Old Peace: A Journey Into the Past

In The Old Peace, players revisit a “tenuous peace” between the Orokin and Sentients on the Perita moon in the Tau System. The narrative centers on the Operator, guided by Loid and the Lotus, using Void powers and sensory deprivation tanks to access repressed memories. These memories reveal a childhood friendship with a Sentient named Adis and the conflict that shattered the truce, involving the Orokin, their creations, and a new enemy faction, the Dax Anarch Warriors. The story questions the established lore of the Old War, hinting at hidden truths about the Sentients and Warframes.

The Perita moon serves as a battle-scarred theater of trench combat, with players navigating memories of war and diplomacy. While Tau itself won’t be fully explorable until 2026, this moon offers a glimpse into the system’s history.

Key Characters involve Executor Ballas, the New War antagonist, who appears during the Orokin Empire’s peak, alongside Adis, a Sentient ally whose “Lullaby of the Manifold” song sets a somber tone.

The Devil’s Triad and Uriel’s Lasting Legacy

Accompanying The Old Peace is the side story The Devil’s Triad, which introduces three new characters:

  • Father Lyon Allard (the Protoframe of Harrow)

  • Marie Leroux (the Protoframe of Wisp)

  • Uriel (the new devil-themed Warframe)—the last design created by the late Warframe artist Michael “Mynki” James Brennan

Uriel stands as a tribute to Mynki’s legacy, and the character design is said to blend devilish aesthetics with deep lore significance.

Players will also get the chance to romance these Protoframes within the story—a first for the franchise. However, community manager Megan Everett clarified that these interactions won’t conflict with ongoing narratives, as The Devil’s Triad centers around the Operator, not The Drifter from Warframe 1999.

Operator Remaster and Tauron Focus System

One major update long-time fans have been asking for is finally arriving: a full Operator remaster. The upgrade includes new models, improved facial animations, and enhanced cosmetic assets to bring the Operator in line with Warframe's current visual standards.

Additionally, the Tauron Focus Expansion will introduce a new ultimate ability for the Operators' five Focus schools (e.g., Naramon’s melee-focused spirit-lance move), further diversifying gameplay and allowing for deeper strategic builds. More details are expected in future Devstreams.

To set the tone for this emotional update, Digital Extremes also released a new track titled Lullaby of the Manifold, tied to Adis' backstory. It debuted during the gameplay reveal and is now available on major streaming platforms.

Other Highlights: New Content, Platforms, and Collaborations

Beyond the main quest, Digital Extremes had plenty more to unveil:

  • Valkyr Heirloom Collection (July 21): A fresh cosmetic set designed by community artist Pertti Bahaa will be launching, following Valkyr’s gameplay rework.

  • Warframe x Starfinder: Operation Orias (October 2025): A new tabletop RPG crossover developed with Paizo brings Warframe’s sci-fi universe to physical and digital RPG formats. A preview will be available at GenCon (July 31 – August 3).

  • Untitled Fall Update: This update introduces a long-awaited Mod tutorial quest titled The Teacher, created in collaboration with Sumo Digital. It features Teshin, a fan-favorite character, finally getting a proper narrative introduction. It also includes an Oberon rework, a Lavos deluxe skin, and quality-of-life improvements.

  • Android Closed Beta (Fall 2025): Warframe is officially coming to Android. Players can register for the closed beta now via the official Warframe on Android webpage. More info on the full rollout is expected later this year.

  • Caliban Prime Access (Coming Soon): Before The Old Peace lands, players will get to wield the power of Caliban Prime and new Orokin-themed weapons and accessories.

Looking Ahead to 2026: Tau

While The Old Peace lays the groundwork, it’s 2026’s Tau that will fully push Warframe into its next major narrative phase. While specific details are still under wraps, this chapter promises to escalate the ongoing “Void War” storyline and possibly take players deeper into Tau’s world—both narratively and visually.

Rebecca Ford expressed her enthusiasm for the game’s future, pointing out that collaborations with studios like Sumo Digital have allowed Digital Extremes to scale up significantly. “There’s never been a time in TennoCon history when we’ve been reviewing a quest for the fall update during TennoCon itself,” she said. The support from co-dev partners has opened the doors for more ambitious updates and consistent content releases.
