Microsoft Reshapes Xbox Game Pass with New Tiers, Price Hike, and Over 100 Added Games

Microsoft has officially restructured its Xbox Game Pass service, introducing new subscription tiers, raising the price of its Ultimate plan, and adding a massive slate of new titles, including Hogwarts Legacy and Diablo IV.
What Changed in Xbox Game Pass Pricing?
The most immediate shift is in pricing. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which bundles cloud, PC, and console access, now costs $29.99 per month, up from its previous $19.99.
Alongside the price increase, Microsoft has introduced Ubisoft+ Classics into the Ultimate tier for the first time, meaning subscribers now get access to a library of Ubisoft hits like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry at no extra cost beyond the new monthly rate.
Meanwhile, the older Game Pass tiers have been renamed and revamped. Premium replaces the Standard plan, offering more than 40 additional games today, while Essential takes over from Core with a more curated catalog.
What Do You Get with Premium?
Premium subscribers gain access to a notable library refresh, highlighted by the arrival of Diablo IV and Hogwarts Legacy. Microsoft confirmed that the tier will also include new first-party Xbox titles within a year of launch. So while major games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be available on Ultimate from day one, they’ll arrive on Premium within a year.
What About Essential?
Essential keeps things simpler. The plan now includes a curated selection of 50+ titles, playable across both console and PC. That means subscribers can enjoy fan favorites like Hades, Stardew Valley, Cities: Skylines Remastered, and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide without needing to step into the higher-cost tiers. For many, this tier acts as an accessible entry point into the ecosystem.
