Xbox has confirmed the return of Xbox Game Camp Africa for its third year, continuing its goal of supporting and elevating game developers across the continent.

For 2025, Xbox is introducing a new format in collaboration with the ID@Xbox Developer Acceleration Program (DAP). Instead of the previous two-day conference style, the upcoming edition will feature a 12-week structured program designed for selected professional game studios from across Africa.

The program will guide participants through the full creative pipeline, from game ideation to producing a working prototype or vertical slice. Dedicated Xbox mentors will provide hands-on support throughout the process.

Since its launch, Xbox Game Camp Africa has welcomed more than 1,900 emerging creators. One notable example is Kunta Content, a Kenyan studio that developed its debut title Hiru during the earlier camps.

We wanted to showcase the beauty of the Masai Mara, the mysteries of the Congo, and the starkness of the desert,” said Dean Gichukie, CEO and Game Producer at Kunta Content.

Event Kickoff in Cape Town

The official kickoff for Xbox Game Camp Africa 2025 will take place on December 4 in Cape Town, South Africa, as part of Africa Games Week.

Previous editions were largely centered around workshops, networking opportunities, and panel discussions. With the extended format, Xbox is placing a stronger emphasis on long-term mentorship and project development.

For African developers looking to take their work to the next level, this year’s Xbox Game Camp could be the most valuable one yet.
