Several Xbox-exclusive games are officially coming to PlayStation consoles in 2025, with more rumored to follow as Microsoft continues to expand its games to competing platforms.
According to Insider Gaming, Forza Horizon 5 will officially arrive on PlayStation in Spring 2025. The popular arcade racing game, which has been one of Microsoft's flagship titles, was initially rumored for a Holiday 2024 PlayStation release before being confirmed for early next year. With Gran Turismo 7 approaching its third birthday, this addition provides PlayStation owners with a fresh racing experience.
Another confirmed release is Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, which launched on Xbox and PC on December 9, 2024. The PlayStation version is scheduled to arrive sometime in 2025, though the exact date hasn't been announced. The title represents one of several Bethesda games that Microsoft is allowing on Sony's platform despite its acquisition of the publisher.
Beyond these confirmed titles, industry insiders have reported several more Xbox games potentially heading to PlayStation. According to gaming insider Jez Corden, Age of Mythology: Retold, a ground-up remaster of the 2002 strategy game that includes all expansion packs, could arrive on PlayStation in 2025.
Perhaps more surprisingly, NateTheHate has claimed that Halo: The Master Chief Collection might be coming to PlayStation and Nintendo's next console. This would be particularly significant as Halo has historically been Xbox's flagship franchise and a system seller for Microsoft's consoles.
Other rumored releases include Gears of War E-Day, a prequel set 14 years before the original game, and potentially a Gears of War Collection featuring remasters of earlier titles in the series. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has also been mentioned as a possibility for PlayStation 5 by the same sources.
Even Starfield, Bethesda's massive space RPG that was initially positioned as a major Xbox exclusive, might eventually make its way to PlayStation. Xbox head Phil Spencer hasn't ruled out the possibility in a recent interview, stating there's "no reason to put a ring fence around any game" that could find success on other platforms.
Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, which launched as an Xbox exclusive despite its predecessor debuting on PlayStation, is also reportedly planned for a PS5 release in 2025. The game, which continues Senua's story of battling psychosis in the 9th century, was significantly more expensive to develop than the original, potentially making a wider release beneficial for recouping costs.
This growing partnership between previously fierce competitors represents a major shift in the gaming industry. For PlayStation owners who may have missed out on Xbox exclusives over the years, 2025 could bring unprecedented access to formerly off-limits franchises. As these companies continue to explore new business models, the traditional console wars appear to be evolving into a more collaborative ecosystem.
