Key Highlights
The headliner for the first week is Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered, developed by Aspyr and released in February 2025. The collection bundles three classic entries, The Last Revelation, Chronicles, and The Angel of Darkness, with visual upgrades, modern control options, and toggles between original and remastered graphics. Reception has been mixed to generally favorable. Praise has gone toward the visual improvements and the preservation of these divisive but ambitious entries, particularly The Last Revelation. Some criticism has been directed at aging mechanics and the rougher edges of The Angel of Darkness, which remains the weakest of the three. As a bundle, though, it is a solid package for fans and series completionists.
Also available now is Mafia III: Definitive Edition, developed by Hangar 13 and published by 2K. Set in a fictionalized 1968 New Orleans-inspired city called New Bordeaux, the game follows a revenge-driven story with strong civil rights era themes, memorable voice acting, and an outstanding licensed soundtrack. The Definitive Edition collects all DLC and addresses several technical issues from the original 2016 release. Reception landed in mixed territory on Metacritic, largely due to a repetitive mission structure, but the narrative and atmosphere were consistently praised. If you are in it for the story, it delivers.
Rounding out the first wave is XCOM: Chimera Squad, a spin-off from the mainline XCOM series developed by Firaxis Games. Rather than building a squad from scratch, you command a pre-set team of humans and aliens in breach-and-clear missions using an interleaved turn system. It is shorter and lighter in tone than Enemy Unknown or XCOM 2, but holds a Mostly Positive rating on Steam at around 71%. According to reviews, it works well as an entry point for newcomers or a palate cleanser for series veterans.
The June 11 batch brings four games across very different genres. Paradise Killer, developed by Kaizen Game Works, is an open-world investigation game set on a surreal island where you gather evidence, interview eccentric characters, and build your own case toward a murder verdict. There is no single correct answer, which gives it genuine replay value. It holds a 92% positive rating on Steam and landed in the high 80s on OpenCritic.
Tested on Humans: Escape Room, another entry from escape room specialists mc2games, offers a short first-person puzzle experience with solid atmosphere and a hint system for those who need it. Steam reception sits at around 87% positive.
G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra, developed by indie.io, is a retro side-scrolling beat 'em up with playable characters like Duke, Scarlett, Roadblock, and Snake Eyes. It leans hard into 1980s cartoon nostalgia and supports co-op play. Reception has been mixed, with Steam sitting at around 46%, but for fans of the franchise or the genre, it is a fun time in a group setting.
Sin Slayers: Reign of the 8th is a dark roguelite tactical RPG with a sin-themed risk-and-reward system that shapes difficulty and loot as you progress. Steam reception is also mixed at around 69%, with praise for its atmosphere and strategic depth but criticism for pacing and balance issues.
The June 18 drop continues the escape room thread with Between Time: Escape Room, another mc2games title in the same first-person puzzle vein. It is a short first-person puzzle experience with solid reception for fans of the genre.
Sugardew Island is a cozy farming and shop simulation where you grow crops, care for animals, and restore island harmony at a relaxed pace. It holds a Mostly Positive rating on Steam at around 77% but has drawn some criticism for repetitiveness and lack of depth.
Wargame Construction Set III: Age of Rifles 1846-1905 is a classic 1990s hex-based wargame from Strategic Simulations, Inc., included here as a retro pick for strategy enthusiasts.
Space Grunts 2, from OrangePixel, continues the pixel-art roguelike formula of the original with dungeon crawling and procedural levels.
The final week closes out the month on June 25 with four more titles. Space Grunts: Chrono Shard is another OrangePixel entry in the same series.
Please Touch the Artwork is an experimental interactive puzzle game centered around engaging with virtual artworks in creative ways, a short but curious indie experience. Mostly positive on Steam.
Terraforming Mars, the digital adaptation of the acclaimed board game, brings its deep resource management and card-driven engine-building to the lineup. It has been generally well-received as a faithful and mechanically rich adaptation.
Lost Eidolons: Veil of the Witch, a tactical RPG with dark fantasy storytelling and turn-based combat, rounds out June's offering.
