AMD, the well-known computer chip maker, is bringing excitement to India's gaming community with its latest tournament, AMD GameOn 2024. The company has announced a nationwide Counter-Strike 2 competition that anyone can join, offering prizes worth Rs. 300,000.
The tournament's final matches will be hosted at IndiaJoy 2024, one of Asia's biggest media and entertainment events. These exciting finale games will take place on November 16 and 17 at the HICC, Novotel in Hyderabad.
The journey to find India's best Counter-Strike 2 team began with open qualifiers, where teams from across the country competed for a chance to advance. After intense competition, eight teams made it to the closed qualifiers, and now just four remain standing. These finalist teams - True Rippers, Carnival Gaming, Gods Reign, and Victores Sumus - will battle it out in a single-elimination format to crown the champion.
Gaming enthusiasts who can't make it to Hyderabad won't miss out on the action, as all matches will be broadcast live on Skyesports' YouTube channel. Skyesports, a leading name in Indian esports, has partnered with AMD to organize this tournament.
"We've always supported India's esports community," says Pramit Khanna, AMD India's Channel Marketing Manager for DIY and Gaming. "AMD GameOn 2024 continues this tradition by giving every gamer a chance to compete at the national level. We're excited to see the finalists compete in Hyderabad."
The event offers more than just tournament action. Visitors to AMD's booth at IndiaJoy 2024 can try out special AMD Advantage gaming systems. These powerful computers combine AMD Ryzen processors and Radeon graphics cards with smart technologies to deliver top-notch gaming performance. It's a perfect opportunity for gaming enthusiasts to experience professional-grade gaming setups firsthand.
Skyesports' CEO, Shiva Nandy, shares the excitement about this partnership with AMD. "This tournament is special because it mixes open qualifiers with invited teams, ensuring we see the best possible gameplay," he explains. Nandy also revealed ambitious plans for 2025, including four major Counter-Strike 2 events across India with a massive prize pool of $1.7 million.
The timing of AMD GameOn 2024 couldn't be better. India's gaming community is growing rapidly, with current estimates showing about 500 million gamers nationwide. Experts predict this number will jump to 730 million by 2028, representing a 10% annual growth rate. This growth would make India the world's largest gaming market by player count. Research from Niko Partners shows that 65% of these gamers either watch esports or participate in tournaments, making events like AMD GameOn crucial for the gaming community.
AMD's commitment to India's gaming scene, combined with the accessibility of this tournament and the hands-on gaming experiences available at the event, makes AMD GameOn 2024 a significant milestone in the country's esports journey.
