Apex Legends and FC Pro Return to Riyadh for the 2025 Esports World Cup

The Electronic Arts (EA) has announced that two of EA’s premier competitive circuits — the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Midseason Playoffs and the FC Pro World Championship for EA SPORTS FC 25 — will be hosted this summer at the 2025 Esports World Cup (EWC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.


EWC is one of the largest and most prestigious global esports events, featuring over $70 million in total prize money and welcoming the top players and clubs from around the world.


ALGS Midseason Playoffs 2025: Format, Dates, and Prize Pool

Apex Legends is returning to the EWC stage after a high-stakes 2024 debut that featured a dramatic 13-game final.

This year’s ALGS Midseason Playoffs will run from July 10 to 13, drawing 40 of the world's top teams for a share of a massive $2 million prize pool.

Tournament Breakdown:

  • July 10–11: Pool Play – 40 teams divided into 2 groups of 20 will play 10 matches each.

  • Top 7 teams from each group will advance directly to the Match Point Finals on July 13.

  • Teams ranked 8th–17th enter the Last Chance Semifinals on July 12, fighting for 6 final spots in the Finals.

  • 20 teams (14 from Group Stage, 6 from Last Chance) compete in a Match Point format in the Grand Finale on July 13.

  • The first team to reach 50 points and secure a 1st-place finish in a subsequent match wins.

The ALGS 2025 winner will take home $600,000 and earn 1,000 ALGS Championship Points — a crucial step toward year-end qualification.


FC Pro World Championship 2025: The Pinnacle of EA SPORTS FC 25

The FC Pro World Championship, the most prestigious tournament for EA SPORTS’ football simulation, will be held from August 7–10. Players from around the globe will battle it out for their share of the $1.5 million prize pool.

Format and Schedule:

  • July 31–Aug. 3: Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) — Over 512 players compete for 5 spot in the main event.

  • Aug. 3: Play-ins — 48 players (5 from LCQ, 43 pre-qualified via FC Pro Open and FC Pro Leagues) compete in double-elimination

  • Aug. 7–8: Group Stage — 32 players (28 pre-qualified, 4 from Play-Ins) compete.

  • Aug. 9: Playoffs

  • Aug. 10: Finals — Including quarterfinals, semifinals, third-place match, and the grand final.

The FC Pro 2025 Champion will walk away with a $250,000 grand prize.

All matches from both ALGS and FC Pro tournaments will be livestreamed on the official Esports World Cup Twitch channel at twitch.tv/ewc, and full VODs will be available on the @ewc YouTube channel.
