Ubisoft has unveiled an unexpected collaboration between Assassin’s Creed Shadows and the long-running horror multiplayer title Dead by Daylight, with the crossover event set to begin on May 27, 2025.
Developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux, the crossover introduces a special in-game quest described as a "breathless game of hide-and-seek against a formidable opponent."
The setting blends Assassin’s Creed’s feudal Japan aesthetic with Dead by Daylight’s signature atmosphere of dread, creating an eerie, tension-filled experience.
A Samurai Stalks the Shadows
The teaser trailer offers a haunting glimpse into the crossover: Naoe and Yasuke, the dual protagonists of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, are seen navigating a darkened environment while being hunted by a flaming samurai. The mysterious figure appears to channel the psychological terror Dead by Daylight is known for—suggesting the mission could lean heavily into stealth-horror elements.
While Ubisoft hasn’t detailed how the crossover will work mechanically, fan speculation points to possible chase sequences, environmental traps, or new stealth mechanics that echo Dead by Daylight’s tension-heavy gameplay loop.
Part of Shadows’ Year 1 Roadmap
The event is included in the Year 1 roadmap for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, alongside:
Free story mission updates
A photo mode overhaul
Parkour improvements
Though Ubisoft hasn’t confirmed if Dead by Daylight-themed cosmetics or bonus rewards will be available, it wouldn’t be the first time either franchise has leaned into crossover content.
Fans of both franchises will want to keep their Hidden Blades—and nerves—sharp when the quest drops on May 27.
