Ubisoft is set to roll out a major free update for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora on December 5, bringing two long-requested features — New Game+ and third-person mode — to the game.

Originally launched in December 2023, Frontiers of Pandora has seen a steady stream of post-launch support, including DLCs and quality-of-life improvements. Now, the upcoming update promises to shake things up even further for players who’ve been waiting for a deeper replay experience and a fresh gameplay perspective.

As revealed in a new Ubisoft showcase video, New Game+ will let players replay the main campaign while retaining their existing gear, skills, and inventory. This revamped experience also unlocks a new skill tree, tougher enemies, and better loot — essentially giving players a new challenge without wiping away their progress.

Alongside that, the long-awaited third-person mode is finally becoming a reality. With just a button press, players can now explore Pandora from an over-the-shoulder view. Ubisoft says this mode brings “a new sense of scale, freedom, and immersion,” as it reworks animations, controls, and camera systems to feel natural and fluid. For many fans, the switch to third-person will feel right at home — especially considering the game was built using the same Snowdrop engine that powers The Division, which has long embraced third-person gameplay.

The update will also extend to existing DLCs — The Sky Breaker and Secrets of the Spire — and builds upon previous enhancements like the introduction of a 40 FPS performance mode and an improved Hunter’s Guide.

According to Ubisoft, this patch arrives just two weeks before the theatrical release of Avatar: Fires and Ash, the next film in James Cameron’s sprawling sci-fi universe. So, for fans of the franchise, December is shaping up to be quite eventful.
