A new datamine has given us the clearest sign yet that Battlefield 6’s battle royale mode is right around the corner.

Earlier this week, strings of code uncovered in the EA app referenced a mysterious mode codenamed “Granite.” At first, it wasn’t clear what Granite referred to, but within hours, dataminers and multiple outlets confirmed that the codename is tied to Battlefield 6’s long-rumored battle royale mode.
Later on, leaks suggest the mode will officially be called Battlefield: RedSec. According to reports by ModernWarzone, the mode is currently scheduled to launch on October 28, 2025, coinciding with the game’s Season 1 content drop.
The insider also noted that EA may not release any trailers or announcements ahead of time, instead opting for a full shadow drop on launch day. The reason is to maintain hype for the core premium game and avoid diverting attention from the main multiplayer launch and its pre-order marketing.
This isn’t Battlefield’s first attempt at the genre. Fans will remember Firestorm from Battlefield V, which failed to gain traction. RedSec, however, is being positioned as a free-to-play standalone experience, with leaks pointing to a new “instant-death circle” mechanic that could set it apart from competitors like Warzone and Fortnite.
So far, EA has not confirmed the release date or official details.
