Battlefield 6 Beta Might Start August 4, But It's Not Official

Last week, EA officially confirmed Battlefield 6 open beta, but its exact launch date is still unknown.
The reveal trailer, which dropped on July 24, gave us our first cinematic look at the game, but it didn’t provide any specific details about the beta either.
Interestingly, Battlefield Studios made it clear that it will include two official playlists—one with Signature Weapons locked to classes, like the much-loved Battlefield 4, and another offering a free-form setup, like the controversial one in Battlefield 2042. This dual approach aims to cater to both long-time fans of class-based combat and newer players who prefer more customization.
Now, according to leakers on Reddit and X (formerly Twitter), the beta might go live on August 4 at 17:00 CEST. Battlefield community account BattlefieldInte was among the first to claim this, suggesting that the game’s open beta could appear in players’ EA App libraries on that date. It’s still unclear whether that means preloading will begin, the beta will unlock, or something else entirely.
Well-known insider Tom Henderson pushed back against the August 4 date, stating that it was wrong. He argued that it overlaps with a creator event, and the creators’ contractual obligations to play and cover the beta imply that it would need to begin after the event, giving them time to participate. "If not all the creators going to the event are also contractually obligated to cover the beta, so doing it when they can't play isn't ideal lol," Tom added.
However, others speculated that August 4 could simply mark the preload period, with a closed beta potentially launching on August 5, followed by a public beta rollout on August 8.
DICE has not confirmed any of these dates, so it’s best to take this speculation with a grain of salt.
As for what’s in the beta, no maps or modes have been officially announced. However, according to a leak from the well-known Telegram group 1BF, Battlefield 6 will feature 11 brand-new multiplayer maps, 4 remastered classics, and 9 campaign missions. You can check out the full list [here]. Still, it remains unclear which map(s) players will get to experience during the beta.
Access to the open beta will likely be straightforward—if it follows the usual EA playbook, players should be able to download it directly from their preferred platform store once it goes live.
As for whether progress made during the beta will carry into the full game, history says no. Like most EA betas, it’s expected to reset progress before the final release.
While Battlefield 6 still doesn’t have a confirmed release date, leaks point to a potential launch on October 10, just ahead of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which is rumored to arrive on November 14.
Fans hoping for answers won’t have to wait much longer. The multiplayer reveal is scheduled for July 31, and that’s when DICE is expected to share more concrete details. Until then, we’re left piecing together hints, dates, and insider claims—but at least we know one thing for sure: Battlefield is officially back.
