Battlefield 6 has become the biggest Battlefield game ever on Steam, and it's not even fully out until October.
The game's open beta, running from August 7-10, has drawn massive numbers despite being limited to players with Twitch Drop codes during early access.
According to SteamDB, Battlefield 6 hit over 334,549 concurrent players at its peak. That's huge compared to Battlefield 2042, which only managed 107,000 players during its best run. We're talking about three times the player count here, and this is just the beta.

But with that surge in popularity came an equally massive challenge: server queues. Players hoping to jump into the beta were instead greeted with the frustrating “Game Servers Full” message. Social media lit up with screenshots showing over 250,000 people waiting in line — many spending more time in queues than in the game itself.
In response, developer DICE confirmed it's working on a “substantial increase in server capacity.” In a statement posted online, the team said, “Thank you for your continued patience as we work to get as many of you into the game as soon as possible.”
DICE also explained that the queues are being used intentionally to keep the game stable. “We will use queues to protect the player experience,” the studio noted, especially during peak hours when servers go live. While frustrating, this system helps prevent larger issues like crashes or matchmaking bugs.
The hype isn't just on Steam either. Battlefield 6 has been pulling in over 699,000 viewers on Twitch, making it the most-watched game by far. League of Legends and Fortnite, usually streaming giants, only had around 100,000 viewers in comparison.
With the full release still slated for October 10, this Open Beta is shaping up to be a massive success — and a major moment for EA. Whether Battlefield 6 can maintain this momentum and challenge Call of Duty’s dominance remains to be seen, but for now, it’s clear: the battlefield is absolutely packed.
