As per a report from The Game Business, data from firms like Ampere, Circana, and Newzoo shows that EA’s upcoming military shooter is shaping up to be one of the franchise’s biggest launches yet. With strong pre-order numbers, a highly successful beta, and increased media attention, Battlefield 6 could deliver its strongest commercial debut since Battlefield 1 in 2016.

How Strong Are Battlefield 6 Pre-Orders?

Ampere estimates that 1.7 million copies have been pre-ordered on Steam alone, placing the game on track for a massive day-one turnout. In addition, Battlefield 6 has already surpassed 2.4 million Steam wishlists, more than triple the level of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which will release a month later.

The publisher expects early sales momentum to push the game past five million copies sold within its first week, a milestone that would put it on par with some of EA’s most successful launches in the U.S. market.

What Role Did the Beta Play in Sales?

Much of this early success is tied to the open beta, which drew between 22–25 million players, according to estimates by Ampere and Newzoo. Daily peak activity reached 10.4 million players, nearly double the numbers recorded during the Battlefield 2042 beta.

More importantly, player behavior suggests Battlefield is stealing attention. According to Ampere, 29% of players who tried both games on Xbox didn’t return to Call of Duty the following month. On PlayStation, that number was 24%, while on Steam it jumped to a massive 48%.

How Does This Compare to Past Battlefield Launches?

Looking back at the franchise’s history provides context for these projections. According to Circana’s tracking data:

  • Battlefield 1 (2016) marked the franchise’s biggest U.S. debut, ranking No.2 in annual sales — just behind Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

  • Battlefield 2042 (2021) performed better than Battlefield V, but still finished behind Call of Duty Vanguard and Black Ops Cold War.

If the five million sales forecast holds, Battlefield 6 could potentially set a new benchmark for the series, marking its most commercially successful launch to date.
