Battlefield 6 Removes Controversial Wicked Grin Skin After Fan Backlash

Battlefield 6 developers have quietly removed the controversial “Wicked Grin” outfit from Season 1 following heavy backlash from fans.

When Battlefield 6 launched, the team behind the game stressed that cosmetics would remain “grounded” and true to the series’ military roots. That promise was welcomed by players who had grown frustrated with Call of Duty’s shift toward crossover skins that felt more like Fortnite than a tactical shooter. While Battlefield 6 never went as far as adding cartoon characters or pop culture icons, some of its Season 1 cosmetics still pushed the limits of what fans considered appropriate.

The biggest offender was the bright blue Wicked Grin kit, which many players felt clashed with the gritty tone of the game. Reddit users mocked it with nicknames like "paintball reject" and "blue Crayola explosion," pointing out how it made soldiers easy targets in a game where camouflage matters. Posts like "I will not revive anyone wearing this skin" went viral, with players pledging to let "glowsticks die on the battlefield."

That sentiment spread quickly, and according to reports by CharlieINTEL on X, the developers have now removed the skin entirely.

So far, no official statement has been made by EA or DICE about whether this removal is permanent. Given that other controversial skins, like the so‑called “Monster Energy” outfit, were later toned down rather than scrapped, it’s possible Wicked Grin could return in a revised form.
