Bethesda Game Studios is reportedly working on several new Fallout titles, even as development continues on The Elder Scrolls 6 for PC and Xbox—possibly even PlayStation 5.
This news comes from journalist Jordan Middler of VGC, who shared the scoop during a recent episode of the Friends Per Second podcast.
“Fallout is the big one,” Middler said during the podcast. “There are multiple Fallout projects in development, including, as far as I’m aware, that one you’re all wanting.”
While he didn’t specify which titles are in the pipeline, fans were quick to jump to conclusions—Fallout: New Vegas 2, Fallout 5, or even Fallout Shelter 2 have all been floated by the community.
Of course, Middler also made it clear that these projects are still early in development. So, don’t expect any of them to be dropping soon. Still, it’s good to know that the Fallout universe is being actively explored again.
Fallout 3 Remastered Could Be Leading the Pack
One project that’s getting a lot of attention is Fallout 3 Remastered, which was mentioned in the same 2023 ZeniMax leak that revealed Oblivion Remastered. That remaster turned out to be real—and released in April 2025—so there’s a good chance Fallout 3 is also in the works.
As per reports from that leak, the remaster is said to be a collaboration between Bethesda and Virtuos Studios—the same team that helped modernize Oblivion. Given how well that game was received, it wouldn’t be surprising if Bethesda wants to follow the same path with Fallout 3.

Could New Vegas 2 Actually Happen?
The dream of Fallout: New Vegas 2 has been alive for over a decade now, and with Microsoft now owning both Bethesda and Obsidian (who made the original New Vegas), it feels more possible than ever. Both studios survived Microsoft’s recent round of layoffs, so the pieces are in place—if they want to work together again.
What’s Next?
Bethesda has a lot going on. There’s still more content to come for Starfield, The Elder Scrolls 6 is deep in development, and now there are multiple Fallout projects taking shape in the background. It’s clear the studio is building for the long haul.
So no, you’re not going to be playing New Vegas 2 or a shiny Fallout 3 Remastered next week. But the Wasteland isn’t being ignored. It’s just waiting for the right moment to rise again—and when it does, it sounds like it’s going to be big.
