While fans eagerly await Season 2 of Amazon’s Fallout series, Bethesda appears to be preparing something special for Fallout 76 — this time, with actual tie-ins to the show.

Although Season 1 was a huge hit when it dropped on Prime Video in April 2024, Bethesda didn’t fully capitalize on the hype at the time. Now, with a second season on the horizon, things might be different.

According to Fallout 76 creative director Jon Rush, the game’s developers are in talks with the TV show team to line things up around the show’s seasonal release.

Speaking with Variety at Summer Game Fest 2025, Rush didn’t go into detail but did confirm that collaborative content is being discussed. It’s a shift in approach from last year, when fans were left wondering why a franchise as big as Fallout didn’t use the Amazon show’s momentum to roll out new in-game content or even a new game.

Fallout’s Timeline Flexibility Makes Tie-Ins Easier

Rush noted that one of Fallout 76’s unique traits is that it’s the earliest game in the series’ timeline, while the show is set far in the future. That time gap, he explained, gives both teams creative flexibility.

I think a distinct trait of the ‘Fallout 76’ game is that we’re the furthest back in time,” Rush said. “And it’s kind of funny, because the show’s the furthest into the future. So there’s a lot of room where we don’t necessarily need to overlap.”

He confirmed that aligning with the show’s release schedule is something the team discusses often. “We do have plans for things here and there,” he added, though specific details remain under wraps for now.

Aside from the TV show tie-in talk, Fallout 76 recently dropped its Gone Fission update on June 3, introducing fishing to the game — a much-requested feature that fans have been asking about for quite some time.

Meanwhile, Season 2 of the Fallout TV series is confirmed for December release, and fans are speculating that it could feature a return to New Vegas — the iconic setting of Obsidian’s Fallout: New Vegas.
