Krafton has officially rolled out the Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) 4.0 Spooky Soiree update, introducing a ghost-themed gameplay experience, fresh modes, and the first-ever India-created map location.
Alongside its headline Halloween-inspired content, Krafton has confirmed that the patch resolves a recent crash issue affecting iOS players.
Stepwell: A First for Indian BGMI Development
A major highlight of this update is Stepwell, a brand-new location on the Erangel map and the first BGMI area designed entirely in India.
Stepwell offers multi-level combat zones, narrow corridors for close-quarters battles, sniper-friendly sightlines, and ambush points that reward coordinated squad play.
As part of the Diwali celebrations, Stepwell will feature player-triggered fireworks between October 18 and 24, adding a festive twist to matches.
Haunted Gameplay: Spooky Soiree Mode
The centrepiece of version 4.0 is the Spooky Soiree Themed Mode, set in the eerie Wraithmoor Mansion. Players are joined by Ghostie, a spectral companion with active and passive abilities that can shift the tide of battle.
Key Ghostie abilities include:
Floating Balloon – Fly across the map for quick repositioning.
Guardian Shield – Deploy a massive barrier to block damage or knock back enemies.
Armorer & Ghost Helm – Repair armor and reduce headshot damage.
Scan, Boost, Heal – Track enemies, increase movement speed, and restore health.
If eliminated, players can return as Prankster Ghosts, using explosive charges, shields, and tracking marks until their energy runs out. Ghostie’s abilities will unlock gradually over the two weeks following the update, encouraging players to return and experiment.
Unfail: New 4v1 Asymmetrical Mode
The update also debuts Unfail, a 4v1 survival mode where one stealth-powered player hunts four survivors attempting to escape. This format adds a tense, cat-and-mouse dynamic to BGMI, rewarding both stealth and teamwork.
New Weapon: Mortar
Version 4.0 introduces the Mortar, a high-damage explosive weapon with two firing modes:
Quick Strike for direct hits.
Precise Target for long-range bombardment beyond visible areas.
Seasonal Events and Rewards
Beyond combat updates, BGMI 4.0 brings India-first seasonal events such as the Diwali Exchange Center (October 3–23), offering permanent purple-tier rewards, and the return of Weekend Grind login bonuses.
The Magic Broom vehicle, a two-seater with dash and attack moves, adds a whimsical touch to the Halloween festivities.
