Tournament organiser BLAST has signed a three-year partnership with GamingMalta, a non-profit foundation set up by the Government of Malta, to bring a series of Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) and Dota 2 esports events to the island through 2027.

The collaboration kicks off with nine events planned across the next three years, starting with Season 2 of the BLAST Premier Bounty tournament in August.

But this deal isn’t just about hosting tournaments. BLAST is also setting up a dedicated broadcast facility and a regional office in Malta. This new hub will host a local team focused on long-term engagement and handling event operations right from the island.

BLAST CEO Robbie Douek called the partnership a "major milestone" for the company. He shared that the plan is to level up the esports and gaming scene in Malta with live productions, a cutting-edge studio, and top-tier competitive content.

Beyond the big-name tournaments, BLAST is also getting involved in supporting grassroots esports efforts. That aligns with GamingMalta’s wider mission to grow local talent and create a thriving, sustainable esports community in the region.

Of course, this isn’t Malta’s first foray into esports. The island has been in the game for a while, having previously partnered with ESL FACEIT Group from 2020 to 2024 to host multiple seasons of the ESL Pro League.

Now, with this new partnership, BLAST is expanding its global presence even further. In recent years, the organiser has already brought events to major international locations like Hong Kong, Singapore, and Texas, showing its clear ambition to become one of the top names in the global esports scene.
